Hey guys so I am building a flipping stick for bass fishing. It will be 7'6 H fast. It is 1/4-1 1/2 oz. Most of the time I will be using 3/8oz jigs and shakey heads flipping wood. I will be using 15 to 17lb fluorocarbon. I know I will use a Fuji RV guide as the stripper guide. My question is, can I then run single foot micro guides to the tip, or should I use another double footed guide after the

Right, the medium is to stiff to cast well with that weight. All I really want to know is does the blank feel like it has enough back bone to pull a bass out of light to moderately heavy cover on 15lb fluoro?

I do not know the actual weight of the bait, but I know that on the medium it is not enough to properly load the rod when casting. That is why I was thinking about stepping down to the ML. I should give them a call though you are right thanks!

Hey guys so I am hoping someone can help me out with this blank. I do not have a way to get my hands on it. I was thinking about going with another company for this rod, but I also want opinions on this blank. I am looking for a rod to throw texas rigs into laydowns. The weight is 3/16 with usually 7inch plastics. I have the 7'2 M Immortal, but this amount of weight does not load that rod very we

Hey guys so I really want to try out a point blank blank. I am looking at the 731MXF. I will be using 15lb flurocarbon or 20lb braid. Itll be for 3/16oz texas rigs, 1/2oz carolina rigs, or flipping 3/8oz jigs. Looking at the lure weighting and the line weighting of this blank, I am assuming its a a relatively stiff blank for a medium. Am I right? Would this be a good blank for what I want to do?

Hey guys so I had a post a day or so ago on a Phenix M1. I am still interested in this rod as I have built on MHX and Rainshadow but not Phenix. I love both the other two, but I do want to try other brands out as well just to see what each brand is like. So how do power ratings on Phenix run? What I mean is with MHX blanks, I use MH for texas and carolina rigs, while with an Immortal or Eterenity

Hey guys so on my next build I want to try out the Fuji PTS reel seat. Im confused as to what insert to use though. Is there one Fuji makes specifically for this? Also looking on mudhole, I see they have a item for sale that is called "Fuji PTS Low Profile Casting Seat Components." Is that the insert I need? It does not list what it means by components so I wasnt sure. Thanks!

Thanks everyone for all the replies! Haha I would love to go for the 7'2 MH Eternity2, I was trying to save a little with this build though. Chances are that will be what I end up using though haha

Hey guys so I am thinking about building a football jig rod on a M1 blank. However I saw the review on tackletour on the finished rod and they talk about it not being very sensitive. My question is, is that due to the way the rod is built, or is the blank not a very sensitive blank? What would you compare it to in terms of sensitivity?

Thanks for the post. Also, I apologize if my response sounded sarcastic or something, it seemed from how you started your post it may have been taken that way. I did not mean for it to be at all, so sorry if it was. What I am gathering, there is really not that much of an advantage for me to go from alconite to sic considering the type of fishing I am doing. I also only fish 2 times a week at

Sorry guys I didnt think about including what I am fishing. I am building freshwater rods for largemouth. I have already built a lot of rods in since November, and I have been using alconite for almost everything other than three rods where I used microwaves or Alps guides. I have not had any problems at all with alconite, I just was curious as to what would be gained by going to Sic if anything.

Hey guys so Im trying to figure out the advantages between Sic and Alconite. I know Sic is harder, but if both hold up to braid, what does that actually do for you? What does using Sic instead of Alconite actually accomplish for you?

Hey guys so I am very interested in building on a Point Blank blank. First of all what kind of warrenty do they come with? Second, would their 7'3 M XF make for a good Carolina Rig rod? I use 20lb braid and a 1/2oz weight. I want a rod with a good backbone, but a softer tip so it will load better and give me good casting distance. Thanks!

Thank you for the reply. I have some immortal blanks and I love them. I am interested right now in trying out phenix or point blank. I would love some feedback on what blank from point blank would be a good choice.

Hey guys so I am building a Carolina Rig rod and I want to try out a company that I have not yet built on. I am looking at either Point Blank or Phenix. So pretty much all the time I will be throwing 1/2oz weights and my leaders range from 1-5ft for the most part. I would like a rod in the 7-7'6 range, somewhere around 7'3 would be perfect. I like a rod with a lot of backbone but a soft tip when

Thank you for all the advice! That is a lot of help. I noticed you said the LXN guide. I will be using 20lb braid with this rod, and that guide says it is rated to 17lb. Is that ok?

Thank you guys for the replies. I have never used different sized guides other than I do use one 6mm stripper as my first guide. How many 5's, 4's, and 3's would you do? Also I typically but a little weight in the rod to balance it as well. If I do that, will that have the same effect as using smaller guides to lighten the tip? I also really want to use the MVT reel seat, but it maybe out of my p

Hey guys so I am going to be building a Carolina Rig rod soon on a 7'2 M Immortal blank. I want to use alps guides. Basically to go from the lower end guides to their zirconium material it is a $10 difference. I am just wondering if it is worth it? Are they light enough to make a difference? I will be using size 4 guides. Honestly I have always just used 4.5 fujis with alconite guides, but I want

Hey guys so a week or two ago I was asking about Alps Hard Aluminum Oxide guide rings and was told that they would hold up to braid fine. One thing I forgot to mention however is that these guides would be used on a cranking rod. I would be throwing things like the strike king 8xd which is 1.3oz and dives to 20ft. This is a pretty hard pulling crankbait. On a worm rod or something like that I wou
