This wrap reminds me of a tree snake, I didn't intend it to be that way but it worked out well.

This wrap reminds me of the colors of a tree snake. Wasn't meant to be that way but it turned out well I think.

Got it done this morning. Overall I am pretty happy with it, the inlays on the right hand side that I did last night I wasn't happy with but they were okay, the ones on the left were much better and I am much happier with them.

I was struggling with a few aspects of weaving on my last few weaves so I cut the one off I was working on and went back to reading and research. I came up with an idea to try and wanted to do a quick easy weave this afternoon and I just happened to be on 13 Fishing's website so I turned their logo into a quick pattern and went to work. I think i am starting to figure this out, no rolling, no p

This will be weave number 2. A version of Glen Burco's Dragon that I found on rod building tutorials under the free weave patterns. I was looking for something non sports related and when I saw this one it just look like a @#$%& of a fun weave.

This was my first weave that I have done to completion, I started and restarted this weave twice before getting it finished. There are a lot of mistakes in this weave, some can be seen in the pictures some cannot but when I look at it they are there. Thankfully this was just practice so no harm no foul as long as I don't do it again. This weave will actually be going onto the handle of an ice

Does anyone here run strictly Mac computers like I do? I do not want and refuse to buy a Windows machine because I have no use for it, however I would really like to start using @#$%& so I can stop using other people patterns and begging people to build patterns for me. Does anyone have any suggestions based on what they use, or know of a good emulator to use so I can run the software? Tha

I have had visual weave now for about a year and have made a few patterns on it and they were all simple patterns and took me forever. I feel as though I am doing something wrong or making it much harder on myself than it needs to be. This morning I sat down to work on getting one of Glen Burco's cartoon patterns loaded up and ready to weave and thats when the fight started. I figured this wou

A while back I was able to get a bunch of different weave patterns out of the library. I have quite a few cartoon characters done by Glen Burco and I know Steve Mcleod has got some patterns in there. I have been trying to find them all again and either it seems to be gone or I forgot where it was at. Can someone help me out?

thanks guys. I think I am going to try using the #10 minima stripper guide with #6 minima fly running guides. We'll see how it goes and what the guys come back and say about them after this winter.

what about doing something a little crazy since the blank is a crazy color anyways. Go with like a neon blue, or neon pink, with some white or silver trim bands.

Last year on all my ice rod builds I use all #6 single foot fly rod guides. I was please with it but I think that adding a bigger stripper guide would result in less line slap and better control. I am not sure what size to use though, I was thinking #6 Minima but I don't know if those will be to big. I will be going to a #6 fly guide after the stripper, or at least that is the plan, unless of

Bill, I have been looking through those, I am hoping someone has their actual dimensions that they used to build. I am terrible at coming up with that stuff on my own.

I am looking at making a new wrapper, the one that I currently have works but it was the first wrapper I ever made and while it works its not ideal. When I made it I made it out of a 1x10 base and 1x6 supports with just small pieces of wooden dowels to fit into holes in the 1x10. the problem is that the supports are not very stable and the spacing of the holes is off so the supports doesn't alw

Okay this will be the first long rod I have built thus far, I have done 10-15 ice rods but never done a long rod so I want to make sure that I have everythign I am going to need before I place my order. The rod is going to be a 7'3 ML Fast rod for throwing light jigs for walleyes. My goal with this rod is to make a very lightweight very sensitive rod. Blank: 7'3 MHX ML F high mod blank G

thanks Tom. When you say scraper are you talking a lathe gouge or a different tool all together? Right now I am considering this but like I said before I want to use it as accents so it will be integrated with cork rings so its gonna be shaped all together which is going to make for some issues I am concerned.

I have been looking at a lot of grips in the picture and I am really liking the look of adding acrylic accents to my new rod build. My question is can acrylic be turned on a drill lathe and shaped with sandpaper? I don't have a true lathe or gouges to use, so I am concered about trying to turn it with sandpaper and putting scratches in it and then it turning at a much slower rate than the cork.

I have read a ton of threads on micro guides and I am still not sure about a few things on and I am hoping that you guys can help out. First question is whether or not micro guides are right for the build that I am working on. I am rebuilding an old Berkely Cherrywood spinning rod, it is a 6'6" medium light two piece rod. This rod will be used for casting smaller 1/8th ounce jigs and po
