You don't feel the bit when you have slack line, you watch the line to see a twitch in it, and then set the hook.

A beautiful wood insert really dresses up a fly rod. It doesn't make it more functional, Just prettier

Golf stores sell a non-volatile liquid to coat the tape before sliding the grip in place. If you are worried about how strong the bond will be, think about the torque golf grips withstand.

These grips were originally made for golf club grips. I have made a half dozen sets of golf clubs and using the two sided tape available from golf shops is the way to go. Golf grips get a lot more abuse than fishing rod grips and using the tape method if you ever need to replace the grip, it will be easy to remove. Not so with epoxy and then you will have to scrape the epoxy off the blank.

The absolute best epoxy for reel seats is the epoxy sold at golf shops for gluing the heads on golf shafts. It has to withstand the 1000 or so impacts of the club head hitting the ball as well as the ground.

J Kenney Fisher blanks are excellent!! Joe not only made blanks for sale, but also for other rod companies, including some top brand names. I still have a number of them.

Are you talking about adhesive or finish?

Actually a fish eye is when a bubble in the finish pops creating a small crater, What you are experiencing is when the finish pulls back,

Cut a thin strip of sand paper approximately the same thickness as the foam and carefully touch it to the foam while spinning on your lathe. I have used this method for different densities of grip material with good results.

Even if you get the syringes with the black silicon coated rubber plunger, don't worry, all you have to do is clean them with DNA. Dip the rubber in the DNA and wipe it off then suck up some DNA in the syringe and flush it out and you will be good to go. I have used them for nearly 40 years with no problems.

Roger, do you know if the ID will stretch a little over the blank?

Are you talking about just the wraps, or the exposed blank as well?

You can use any line on any rod, you just have to have your drag set correctly so the rod is not over powered by the line. Lighter lines on heavier rated blanks don't work well since they don't benefit from the flex of the rod blank. ie, a rod rated for 15 # test is not going to work very well with 4# test line.

Almost any seat can be used without hiding the hood. Most mad for hidden hoods are not given a high quality finish, but can still be used without hiding the hood.
