On large guides like that, I do as Roger does and some judicious use of my belt sander.

Use Gudebrod if you can find it, I have never had it fade. Use CP too!

If you can find a good set of the Mildrum Tungsten Carbide guides that would be my choice. Nearly indestructible if kept clean after use. Not sure how SIC would hold up.

The easiest and probably the best way is to find a section of rod blank that fits the taper of the butt and fit it as a sleeve. Epoxy in place and build your handle and reel seat over it. An alternative method is to find a piece of blank that fits the ID of the butt and epoxy it in place.

I would be more concerned about the way the rod casts than about such minimal weight/

You can buy white nylon caps for round chair/table legs at many stores like Lowes' or H D in various ID's. They are easily dyed using Rit fabric dye. Made many of them over the years.

If you are using a beautiful exotic wood insert, I don't know why you would want to cover it up with a decal?

If you have access to a tube cutter you can make your own slip rings out of copper or brass pipe. You can finish/polish them however you chose. The tape that Roger suggested will also work fine.

With the plated brass, it sounds like salt water corrosion. You might try taking a leather or wood mallet and tap all around the seat, much like you would with a stuck jar lid. Be careful if you use heat, the blank may come out of the ferrule leaving the ferrule still stuck.

44. Re: loose wrap
If started and done properly, there will be no rapid transition. I have been doing and developing dec. wraps for over 40 years, and too much tension is the first problem to be conquered.

Wrapping from the tip to the butt isn't going to cure his problem.

46. Re: loose wrap
Laying the thread on the cross wraps should not be done tight. When you have too much tension spiraling the thread down the blank it will not be possible to adjust subsequent threads after they are layed. Sounds like you are stretching the thread. Your end wraps should be fairly tight but not overly so.

Out of stock may be true, but then they shouldn't tell him it will be filled and shipped that day!!

Don't start applying the epoxy at the edge of the wrap, rather start applying within the wrap and as the rod is turning kind of push the epoxy towards the edge of the wrap, it will flow out in a straight line if done properly.

Take it outside and cast different weight lures or weights from it and see how it performs.

Roger it is possible to crush the blank with too much tension on the thread!! I did it once about 40 years ago. I was in a hurry for the gudebrod nitro-cellulose CP to dry, so I put the rod in a window sill with the sun shining through and started working on another rod. I heard a snap and looked at the rod in the window and it had been crushed right at the wrap. I don't think that this wou

Look at the ends of the break and see if there is any evidence of crushing.
