Thanks, Don and Roger. I am switching hands as all my reels are right handed and I cast with right and reel with my right. I think I will make the handles on my dedicated vertical jigging rods a little longer than the handles on my dedicated casting rods where, if it weren't for switching back and forth, I would have made them a lot longer. Cheers.

How long would you recommend I make the rear cork grips on a casting or a jigging rod built to use a conventional reel (casting)? I recently decided on 10 5/8" for casting rods even though I was convinced I wanted 12 5/8", but then a very experienced bass fisherman at the local tackle store here in town (Tochterman's) educated me on the fact that when you are switching the rod from c

Dennis, thank you for the field report. Just a thought..... "slow jigging" can often mean rods that the jigging world describes as "parabolic" which I think in simple terms lets the rod bend all the way in the to butt section and jigging rods if not like this are described as "fast" which to me means a stiffer tip. Maybe you need a rod that is stiffer in the tip se

Does anyone have experience with this line of blanks and can tell me if they find the posted ratings for lure weight to be "true"? For example, in the Elite SD Series, (per CTS) Series 2 is rated for lure weight .7oz to 1.2oz and Series 3 is rated for 1oz to 1.5oz. Do you find that to be "true" in the real world when you start casting lures with these rods? Apparently

Is anyone familiar with the JAWS jigging blanks that Acid Rod carries? I am finding that most of the jigging blanks out there, unless they say "Light" or "Extra Light" are too stout and too beefy for my application, which is jigging 2 - 3 oz. lures using 12 - 14 lb. test mono (or the braid equivalent). The fish I am catching average 6-8 lbs. with occasional 20 pounders.

Who these days is selling painted Fuji reel seats such as Matagi or the ones that Rod Dancer had painted with automotive paint? I have built a few rods with Matagi seats that I purchased as part of a special order directly from Matagi. I think Scott from Rod Dancer told me unloaded all those, but I just am not sure where to start looking these days. Thanks, Tony

Michael - On 9 weight and above, I really like the REC RFTS. It has a flat top so the slide band "tracks" and two lock nuts that holds bigger reels in place very nicely. Tony

I had emailed Col directly just yesterday and his wife told me the news via email reply. I carefully constructed a reply telling her so sorry I was and how much I enjoyed "talking" with Col through the rod board. I will truly miss him and I think it's great we are remembering him here. Tony

Wes - I bought one of those blanks at the same show and while a lot of people thought they'd make good fly rods, one of the former owners of All Star told me that was a spinning blank, as Jerry mentioned.

Hello. Does anyone have or know where I can find United Composite blanks? I am looking for one in particular CXJ 6000, a jigging blank rated for 50-175g (2-4 oz). Thank You, Tony

Hello. Did anyone pick up a navy blue hooded sweatshirt in size 3XL? I think I took it off to use the casting lane and left it there. Thanks, Tony

Mark, close but still too much. 85% of the time it's 60 grams and other 15% it's 90 grams. This makes it extra ultralight! Kevin, thanks. Still too long but I did not know such a seat existed. Crazy.

Howdy. Can anyone recommend blanks for vertical jigging lures 2-3oz.? I am finding some fine blanks out there, but they all seem to be 1 piece. I need to take this thing on air planes, so need something that can be broken down. Thanks, Tony

I have always thought you could interchange sections from different blanks of the same make and model. Some manufacturers have told me flat out "no", they have to have the rod in hand to make sure the sections fit exactly. Other people have given me the impression that if the overlap of two sections is "long enough" all is OK. What is the deal with this? Should we expect

Sorry, guys! What I meant to ask was how do you cut out single rings, carefully, on a handle that has not been glued on to a blank.

I have used various lock blade "carpet cutters" but was wondering what folks would recommend for cutting rings off a glued up cork handle. Thanks

Thanks to all who replied. I ended up ordering some custom length tubes with dividers from Clear Creek. They asjed me for length of the longest section and I did not realize how much difference there can be between sections on a spinning or casting rod. I have not found that with fly rod blanks.
