Has anyone attempted to do a spiral wrap on an 11' 1-piece surf rod. Or do you know where to get a little more information on how exactly to go about achieving this. The rod is going to be the Lamiglass G1000 surf/bar in the 11' 40 lb 6-12 oz. It will be used as an anchor rod for king-fishing from the pier. Any help or direction towards an old Rodmaker article is greatly appreciated.

I have a Breakaway 10' one piece that I have wrapped with black threads. the Breakaway logo is yellow and black. I used a black aluminum reel seat, and shrink wrapped the grips. So needless to say the rod is "murdered out" and very light weight. But my question is has anyone done a black and yellow tiger wrap on a black background. I know the concept is to use contrasting colors so I

A cutomer of mine has two older Harrington Blanks, Both 9' one piece, and he would like to basically recreate this blank since it no longer made. He wants two more rods, cost not an opiton, that match as closely as possible to the action and length of the Harrington blanks. Any help is greatly appreciated.

i like the spray on bed liner. I.E. Rhino lining. you have to scuff the blank a bit but it is the most durable thing i have found yet. and it does not soak up all the fish guts and saltwater like foam or cork tape.

most of the time its semi windy, 5-10 mph, and most of the time you are just fishing in muddy water. and most of the people i would be fishing with refuse to use a fly rod unfortunately.

Want to get an MHX Fly rod kit for Reds, trout, anything in the inlets and backwaters. Also may occasionally use it for bass very rarely. any recommendations... a lot of people have said to get a ten weight rod but I'm fairly new to fly fishing itself, built plenty, but just starting to use them more.

I recently aquired a used breakaway 10 foot rod and was wondering if anyone knew what blank they used for this particular rod. i would like to rebuild it and use for pier and surf drum fishing but want to make sure that i dont overload the rod. it says its a 4-10 but i would like to know what is optimal for this blank. thanks

Simple question....Does the Sport-fishing excise tax apply to a custom rebuild for a customer? He purchased the rod new, and over time now wants it rebuilt ( wear and tear / new design etc).

i would change the rear grip to a slick butt... if he plans on using it a lot and in n out of a rod holder like i do trying to find the tunies, the Eva will wear down and get cut. As far as guide height i will only build spinning jigging rods for that reason. guess i need Mr. vivonas opinion on it as well?!

i would either do the K series or the lowrider guides. typically on an eleven i put 8 plus the tip.

i would suggest a complete rebuild so that all of the guides look uniform. it is pricier but in the long run it is worth, otherwise, eventually the other guides will have to be replaced as well.

i always put a thin coat on the underwarap even if the threads still show through. I then put two coats on the overwraps that way any threads left exposed on the underwrap will be properly covered.

First, I just found a Gudebrod rod wrapper that a guy wants to sell and i was wondering what would be a good price to offer. All of the parts are there, everything works, the only down side is the O-rings all need to be replaced from the motor to the holders themselves. Second, the same guy wants a blank that (in his words) "will chunk a rattle trap a mile and still be able to set the ho

So a friend of mine has two 9' 1-piece Harrington Rods that he wants rebuilt....... there is EVA foam grips that are RED. the back grip is split with about a foot and a half wrap then another Red eva grip, it then has an aluminum reel seat then another red EVA grip an another wrap that is about a foot long. the guides have underwrites that extend well over two inches past the guide foot. So bas

Since i primarily build med-heavy duty Saltwater rods, i have found that sensitivity really doesn't have that big of an effect for most people. therefore, i have found that using Drywall tape, with epoxy brushed across as you wrap works very well and is actually a whole lot stronger than any masking tape ever could consider. other wise though, on any rod where sensitivity matters i try use arbor

the guides i have/using are kwsg's and everything i have seen so far is either too dark or light to match up. thanks though for the suggestions. just wish mud-hole was open so i could just call and see if there is an exact match lol.

that would be ok Except that the guides i have are a gunsmoke color and that guide is bright titanium. in my opinion they all need to match. I'm just kinda ocd about that though. a little more... the tip size is an 11 and the ring size needs to be a 12. gonna be used for vertical jigging if that explains anything.
