The Bushido CB72/10-20 is hard to beat for medium divers. The 7'2 length is nice to have in a yak.

I like the Bushido DS 69/4-10. You can feel the fish swimming by your bait just before it hits.

Got my room reserved, going to try the Embassy suites this year for the first time, Marriott has been great over the years, but figured I'd try something new for 2018,

The American Tackle AXVJ6030 is what I use for those fish. The 6040 is also pretty good for that type of fishing.

Microwaves are as advertised or better. The thing I noticed most is improved casting distance. Casting distance matters while stalking reds or specs. 10lb -15lb braid and let er rip! Just follow the guide spacing that comes with the guides for the first 3 guides. You will love them.

I think Gary Dunkum(sp?) is based in Williamsburg, not sure he is a full shop or not. I'm about 25 minutes east of Williamsburg if you want to come see my set up. I carry the basics and have a few blanks in stock. Build mostly saltwater stuff so most of materials are for that. Also there is Bishops Bait and Tackle on 17 in York County again about 20 minutes east of the Burg. He used to sell

Sometimes you can find a vacuum cleaner belt that will work. Easily found at local grocers or wal marts.

American tackle has a 7'6" musky blank. rated 30-60 I think. I played with it at the expo and it was very nice.

I start the guide wrap and after a few turns I place the guide foot under the thread to hold it in place. Wrap about 1/2 way up the guide foot then gently pull the guide toward tip of rod to set it. After that wrap as usual. Have to do one at a time using this method, but it works great for me.

I fish the lower Chesapeake for Rock Cobia, and Bull Reds and I would recommend the American Tackle Virtus series. NIRLVH's or NIRLVL's Either will work, the LVL's are a tick lighter, but both will perform well with technique you described.

I'd go with the SJ68. IMO the CB line recovers to slowly for jerk baits. The CB line is great for heavier jigs and of course crank baits.

As far as saltwater and the metals, I always spray my rods with a light mist from the freshwater hose and wipe them dry, have had no problems.

Thanks for all your work in making the ICRBE happen Tom, I'm sure there is a lot more to it than what people think. I had a great time meeting and talking to folks. As always there were some innovating products on display. Can't wait to try out some of them.

American Tackle - AXVJ050 or the AXVJ060 depending on how heavy, or the AXGC70MH. Either will do the trick for what you described.

Not the length you want but the American Tackle Bushido BVJ58500 is close. Only thing is it's 5'8" They make a 6'6" (BVJ66250) but it's only rated for 30-50lb.

Billy Vivona's book does a great job explaining spacing on DEC Wraps. I bought it a couple of years ago at the expo. He usually attends and has a booth with the NERBS group, but last year they weren't there. Not sure why. Hope to see Billy and the rest of the NERBS there this year as they always had a great booth and did great demonstrations.

My bread and butter in the Chesapeake Bay is light tackle speck and pup rods. The American Tackle Bushido LS7/10-20 should be prefect for your needs.. Great blank for the type fishing you described.

I build a lot of trolling rods for rockfish. I like the American Tackle AXGC66MH for that purpose. Of course I build mine traditional, but would think a spiral wrap on the blank would work as well.

I was taught that putting a layer of A thread down will help protect the blank a bit. Not sure if that is true but is what I was taught. On the heavier saltwater rods I use A thread as an under for that reason and also for decorative purposes. A double or single layer of D as the over depending on the style of rod and again it can be used for decorative purposes, but for most of my builds I us

A for unders D for overs. Unless a light saltwater spinner, then A for everything. 95% of my builds are saltwater.

The American Tackle CB72/8-15 is a great blank for the fishing you described. It has become my go to blank for reds, trout, etc. While I don't live in your area reds and trout are pretty much the same up and down the coast. The cb 72/8-15 is a great blank. Can't really help you on the Tarpon blank as we don't really have them up here, but the LS76/20-40 is a great sight fishing blank for cobi

American tackle blanks - LS76-12/25 or LS76 - 20/40 should do the trick.
