I fish the CA Delta for sturgeon and I like the 196- 7’ foot live bait blanks from Seeker and CalStar. A lot of people use the 270 7’ to 8’. I have used them and they are good but I like the sensitivity on the 196-7 and my favorite is the Super Seeker SS-CLBF 704 it is a 196-7 series.

Here is a rod that I just finished for my Granddaughter. It is my forth rod so far. She will be using it for sturgeon. My son her uncle could not believe that I would bring a pink rod on the boat. I told him that it will probably be the luckiest pole on the boat. I hope I am right. We will see on the next trip. I need to practice allot more on the butt wrap. I thought that I had it packed g

34. 2nd Build
I just finished my second build. I think the eyes wraps came out better than the first. I did a chevron on the butt wrap and I guess I missed the layout. The pattern looks ok but the parts that where left open are different sizes. I thought that I had it but I guess it moved. This one is a CalStar BTG 196-7 Blank. I can’t wait to give it a try on the Sturgeon out here. I Can't wait to sta

Thanks for the comments. Like I said before this site is great has TONS of information that helped me decide how to manufacture the unit.

A buddy of mine Don and I just completed my Power Wrapper. It was a couple year project we made the base and kind of lost interest. I got the itch back 3 or 4 months ago and made my first rod. After a couple year layoff we started manufacturing the rod wrapper and finally finished. Now I need the time to Build a shed gut my garage and make a new work bench dedicated for rod wrapping. Not sur

37. Re: CP or Not
Thanks for all of your input. I will continue to use CP on white NCP thread. I want the white to stay white and hold its bright color. I was just a little worried from my friend’s experience.

38. CP or Not
I built my 1st rod and I used CP. I like white underwraps because I fish at night and also like the way it looks. I have heard that White thread causes lots of problems.
I used NCP White A thread for underwrap then I used D Nylon for the guides.
(All Gudebrod Brand)
If I use A & D Thread that is NCP for the guides and use Flex Coat High build would it be stronger then with CP and

39. Re: 1st Rod Wrap
Thanks your not kidding about what the camera sees. I noticed that after I took the pictures and then when I brought it outside after the finish coat. I am trying to figure out how I want to do the next one. No I do not have any magnifiers and I need better light. I put two coats thinned 50% and 1 coat 100% CP (Flex Coat) on the guides and I just hope that they hold up. Then I finished it w
