Here is a rod that I just finished for my Granddaughter. It is my forth rod so far. She will be using it for sturgeon. My son her uncle could not believe that I would bring a pink rod on the boat. I told him that it will probably be the luckiest pole on the boat. I hope I am right. We will see on the next trip. I need to practice allot more on the butt wrap. I thought that I had it packed good then when I put on the CP some of it moved.

I love it, man!
i just built my daughter, who's 3, her first fishing rod. It's a light-duty saltwater back-bay rod, 6 feet long, and intended for fluke and other assorted back-bay fish that tend to be on the small size. And, of course, it's pink. She even picked out her own reel - a Penn 109 (aka "knuckle buster") at a flea market this spring. These are pretty powerful little reels, so, with a drag upgrade, she should have a sporting chance if she gets lucky and hooks up with a decent striper. I ended up liking this little setup very much. Most of us use rods that are greatly overbuilt for the types of fishing we put them through. To test this theory, I'm pondering using this little pink back-bay rod when I go fishing in the Cape May Rips for big stripers in a month. It should be fun watching the faces on the guys when they see me pull out a pink back bay rod while livelining spots for big stripers. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
