Give Karen at Bingham a call. She has the fuschia-metallic SCIII's in stock. If by burgundy gloss you are referring to the Mojo Bass series, those blanks (SCII) aren't offered for sale in that color. They are only offered in gloss black pearl.

What I do is, with my lathe, bore an 1/8" hole in a 1/4" hardwood dowel and use it for an arbor for the 1/4" bore cork.

I put a wrap of tape around as a guide and trim it on the lathe with a parting tool.

Most of my customers request the US made St. Croix blanks. I do build on the others though, when the customer wants something that St. Croix doesn't offer. Usually it's because they want a certain blank color.

I have a 3S76MLXF wrapped with TATSG's and TLSG4's. I use it as a dropshot rod. I feel that it has quite a light tip......lighter than the 69MLXF. I also built the 2pc model for someone else, without the micros. The 2pc felt a little more powerful (to me) than the 1pc.

Duane, I checked out the rod in question tonight. It appears to be Pewter.....at least the rod I looked at.

Is there a possibility that thay are really old SCV's? I mean like 4 series ago?....prior to the matte green? I recall seeing some really old factory built Legend Elites that were black in color. They looked unfinished.

what series rod is it. I'll take a look at them tomorrow evening. I have both GB pewter and GB bronze. It could be either one depending on the lighting of your pic and the lighting where I hold my spools. The bronze does darken up a bit once finish it applied.

My most favorite rod is a 4C69MLXF spinning with Alconite guides, a 16mm Alps reel seat, split grip and an aluminum butt cap. The reel seat weighs more than the blank, but it just feels right in my hand. I have 2 more spinning rods planned with the Alps seats.

The 5C68MXF was my only tube rod for Erie smallies.....til it had an unexplained accident. Have another one, but haven't built it yet. Also have a 4SW76MF that feels like it will make a good deep water tube rod.

I did a repair on a production rod where every wrap came off. Turned out that the blank was too glossy for the epoxy to adhere. I scuffed the blank and re-wrapped. Here's a pic of the wraps still attached to the guides.

Sounds like you got an old Avid and a new Avid. From memory, St. Croix hasn't used the cardboard topped bags on blanks for about 3 or 4 years.

My form 720 hasn't arrived yet. Anyone else not get theirs? I usually get mine a week before the end of the quarter.

I never had that problem with the TM regular though. I'd apply my decals at 10 or 12 hours and my 2nd coat at 10-12 hours after that. I've had to adjust my routine to use the TM light as the first coat. Now I do: 1st coat.....wait 24+ hours, apply decals.....wait 12+ hours, apply 2nd coat.

I had a problem like that once. Was in a hurry and my TM light only had 12 hours of cure. The Micro Set ate through the finish. No more hurry for me. I sometimes get a haze around the decal once dry, but another application of Micro Sol takes it away. Maybe I have a water problem?

I have 6 green Matrix blanks in my shop right now. All had a paper sticker on the butt, just as Tom had mentioned.

You would be correct about the Erie tribs, along with the Lower Niagara and some other Ontario tribs. Also the middle and lower Yough River, near my home.

I have TLSG6J's as running guides on my 13' Talon. I've never had any really bad icing problems. Some ice forms, but it will on any guide in those conditions.

Blag4's do exist in the US, as do the LSG3.5's. I got Karens last 20 and 10.
From the picture, you can see they are from Japan......via Anglers Resource.

I planned on making a trip to the hardware store for something to use as a mandrel, but it was midnight, so I used what was available. I will be going to get a small threaded rod for the next ones.

I just finished wrapping the most difficult rod I've ever encountered. A 28" UL solid carbon ice rod. It has an 1/8" butt and a 2.5 top. I turned 3 - 5/8" dia x 1/2" hardwood arbors to shim the reel seat, cause all my foam arbors have 1/4" bores. I used a small bolt as a mandrel to to turn a 1/2" foregrip and butt cap from a solid burnt burl ring.
Then there's

Alex, I have a customer thet wants ONLY the topless ones. I've done 2 rods for him and he has 3 more on order. I hope they are still in production.

I have the Penn State lathe conversion, but it has a 12" tool rest. That picture was taken with a 18" mandral in the chuck. I turn mostly split grips, but ordered the full length mandrels, just in case I ever wanted to do more. I just kept my work to the bottom so there was always a spot to rest the cutting tool.
It took some getting used to, turning vertically. and my knees were
