I'm gonna refrain from posting my guess as some might say I had an unfair advantage! My magic 8-ball has been spot-on lately, except for picking Lottery numbers!

Been fishing a pink (fuschia) St. Croix for 3 seasons with no signs of fading.

I'm running uni-uni knots through 3.5mm Fuji SiC's and 4mm Alconites. My braid is lighter than yours though. I'm using 10/2 Power Pro connected to 6# and 8# floro leaders. I run 10' to 15' leaders, so I'm always casting the knot through the guides. You can feel the knot ticking through, but it still casts very well.

154. Re: filed guides..
I color them with a black sharpie and apply a coat of CP on the guide foot to seal the marker from bleeding thru.

Jeremy, shoot me an email with your mailing address and I'll send it out. It will fit, regardless of the drill press size. You will just have to get a shorter mandrel if your press isn't very tall.

I put them on a mandrel and turn on my lathe. Since you don't have that many to do, I'd suggest gluing up on threaded rod and try shaping on a power drill. I wouldn't think it would be too hard to rig something up to get you through the task. Check the tools section on the photo page. There's probably some pics of other's set-ups using drills.
I started turning on a drill press with a lath

The Batson split grip kits are undersized for the ACS seats too. I did just as Dan....I cut the tenon off, glued 2 rings and turned them to get the proper transition.

Thanks Lance. I need a shorter 1/2" threaded for reel seat inserts and a short 6mm threaded for making reel knobs.

I've done a few blue/green flips with Gudebrod teal no CP trimmed with steel blue metallic.

I have the St. Croix 3S76MLXF that I use as one of my DS rods, mostly for deep water (40-55'). It works quite well for that application.

Chuck, I haven't got mine either, and I've been getting them mailed since 2005.

I built one with Ti guides and used Gudebrod Teal with no CP trimmed with Steel Blue metallic. The teal almost disappears.

I glue the arbor in to the reel seat. Once cured, ream to for the blank and glue up, all in one piece.

It's not uncommon to have the 'same' color thread be from different dye lots and be totally different. I have 5 spools of Gudebrod Teal Nylon and every one is different.

I never clean mine. I use them til the numbers wear off. Usually get a little over a year out of a set

I built a 7' M/F SCV casting rod for a guy last spring and he matched it up with a Steez. He was fishing with me on Erie and said "watch this"...and he tossed it over the side of the boat. It floated, horizontal, right beside the boat. I also built myself a 6'9" ML/XF SCV spinning. Just for the halibut, I tossed it in my friends pool, and it floated. However, I didn't have the

Knights Inn in Greensboro does also. That's where we will be with our border collies.

I trim my reel seats on the lathe, with a parting tool. Makes very straight, square cuts.

Roger, I was surprised. Surpirsed that I couldn't tell the difference in the 3 different models that I built.....they all felt the same to me. When I pick up my St. Croix's, I can tell the difference between the models.

Maybe not.....but if one wants a Lexus, they're not gonna settle for a Scion.

I have done test wraps with the 4 colors I have (Thunder, Ocean, Forest & Burgundy). While they do darken, they don't darken to the same extent as regular nylon thread. The biggest difference when using without CP, is the amount of bubbles it releases. I would liken it to metallic thread for the number of bubbles it produces.

If I am not mistaken, the Legend Elite and Legend Extreme are the same blank, just different color, guides & grip.

I have one of mine of the dryer now with 2 black guides and all the rest chrome. Didn't have the right size in chrome. Leaving for vacation next week and hated to order just 2 guides. Wrapped the black ones and hit them with CP. I'll rewrap them with the chrome guides after vacation.....maybe.

I just wrapped one in teal. Haven't put finish on it yet, but from other rods I've done with teal, it should match the blank pretty close.

176. Floating rod
I get a call a few weeks ago from a guy that I built a split grip casting rod for on a 5S70MF-G. The conversation goes something like this:
Jim: Scott....it's Jim....... I have some bad news and good news.
Me: Did you break your new rod?
Jim: No.
Me: (sigh of relief) That's good, what happened then?
Jim: Bad news......I threw it in the water.
Me: WHAT.....
Jim: I said......I thr

Give Karen at Bingham a call. She had one of the Fuchsia Metallic St. Croix's in her booth at the show. I don't remember which model though.

I think I have a CG-21 in my inventory. I'll check when I go home. I might have used the reel seat out of it though.
