I scan them and e-mail the image to Decal Connection and have them reproduced on waterslide paper in silver.

I believe it's gudebrod cobalt blue (50) nylon without CP, trimmed in either pewter or gunmetal. I built one for my wife with gudebrod purple (468) nylon trimmed in pearl metallic with CP. It looks pretty sharp. The pearl trim ties in her Stradic reel pretty well

Micro Set prepares the surface for application and Micro Sol (for lack of a better word) melts the decal to the finish.

274. No intersect point?
While setting up a 6' med. spinning rod for my dad last night, I noticed that the intersect point was exactly at the end of the blank. I tried to place the guides like that, but I couldn't get, what seemed to me, proper placement. Should I create a false intersect point x" from the tip and build from there?
Thanks,
Scott

275. Re: Handle Question
I had a few brick foam arbors laying around. I turned them down on my drill press to fit the handle, then reamed them out to fit the blank. It was only my third rod, and I didn't know any other way to do it other than the tape method. It took some time, but it sure turned out great.

276. Re: CP & waterslides
Thanks for the replies. I applied it on my lunch break and it looks really good................at least in my opinion. I'll put my last coat of finish on tomorrow night. I can't wait to see how it turns out. This is my first rod with waterslides and only my third rod to date. Is there a cure for the addiction?
Thanks,
Scott

277. CP & waterslides
Is it necessary to apply color preserver over the new waterslides from Decal Connection before my final coat of epoxy?
Thanks,
Scott

278. Re: Tru-Oil question
Try a gun shop, sporting goods store or even wal mart. It's in the gun section, usually around the re-bluing kits.

279. Tru-Oil question
I have re-finished many gun stocks with tru-oil, so I figured I'd try it on a cork handle. I applied it by hand, just like i've done before. It won't dry. It's still tacky after 15 hours. I have put up to 4 coats/day on the stocks that i've done with only 2-3 hours between coats. They were never tacky. Could my tru-oil be too old??
Thanks,
Scott

281. Arbor bit question.
Is Rod Bond an acceptable epoxy to attach the guide tube to a spade bit?
Thanks,

I have a drill press and some hand drills, so I'll see what works best for me.
Thanks,

Can these drill bits be used to get to a close starting point on cork handles? I'd like to know before I order the kit to make some.
Thanks,
Scott

Rick,
How's the new puppy? If you make it to the show, could you check out a blank for me? I'm interested in the new 6'10" M/XF Rainshadow RX7.
Thanks,
Scott

285. Re: Pike Rod
MudHole has some Rainshadow musky blanks on clearance for about $35. Great rods for the price. I haven't built mine yet......still waiting for some cork.

Chris,
Here's a link to St Croix's rod building site: www.stcroixrods.com/content.asp?id=66§ion=builder
Scroll to the bottom where the thread colors are. It tells you what colors are used for what rods. Hope this helps.
