I use my 610mxf for tubes. I use the 610mlxf for dropshotting.

I thought the transition from Merrick would have made my application easier since I was a Merrick customer and they had all of my info.

I did try to call yesterday. 3 times I let it ring 10+ times and the automated system never picked up. The one time I got thru and was holding for 10 minutes and the line disconnected. I would have at least expected a confirmation email that it was received.

Well, then something is amiss. I faxed the application, EIN and sales tax license on Tuesday, 1-14-14, and heard nothing back. I emailed a PDF with the application, EIN, Sales tax license, company checks, customer invoice and shop photos on Wednesday, 1-22-14, and still haven't heard anything.

I use a handwrapper and a power wrapper. I wrap from left to right and right to left. Doesn't seem to make a difference.

Unless you have a dart straight blank, what good is a laser? I haven't seen too many straight blanks in the 10 years I've been building.

2 coats is all you need. When I feel the desire to use CP, I do just as billy said.....put it on and wick it off with a paper towel.

I have experienced what you had happen with flood coats of chromaseal. If I put on just enough to soak the threads, it was fine.

All around would be the 5S610mxf. My favorite is the 5s69mlxf. I use it more than any other. The 610m is a little too powerful for dropshotting IMO, but it works great for a wide variety of techniques.

I have a friend that made a mold and pours them! They are more durable and he makes custom colors. If interested, shoot me an email.

I haven't noticed any difference just handling the new blank. The XF models I mentioned are rated 6-10. The only difference in the 2 models you listed is the color....they are the same blank. I like the XF for dropshotting as I feel they have a lighter tip than the fast ones. I'm sure the fast ones would work for you. If its the shorter length that is steering you from the XF, just extend it

There were no problems with the 3M resin blanks. The MLXF model is, IMO, the perfect DS rod. In fact, one of my personal dropshot rods is on the 3M 5S69MLXF model. I also have one of the FRS SCV's in 5s610mlxf waiting for me to find the time to assemble. I'm a dropshot rod junkie. Usually have 3 or 4 on the deck! The SCV blanks have carbon scrim. The SCIV blanks have glass scrim. That i

The colors I posted were for SCV spin/cast blanks. The fly blanks have their own color scheme that I am not familiar with.

I'll give this a shot. Don't take these dates for gospel as I'm going from memory. I think the SCVI started going in the rods in late 2010. The old matte green, then gloss brown blanks are a touch heavier than the new ones. The 3M resin was only used for a couple years (2011-2012 I believe). IPC and ART came to be in 2006. 2013 saw the introduction of TET and FRS replaced the 3M NSi. As for

As the others have said, too much finish. I have found that a flat file works great for knocking off the high spots before recoating, provided the finish is fully cured.

I would think it would be up to the individual manufacturers if they would want to continue supplying to the new owners. There are a lot of companies that are represented in both catalogs.
