I'm looking at using a Fugi VSS 16-15 reel seat on my PB701LXF build. I've never installed this reel seat and associated grip before. Are there any nuisances I need to be aware of for this installation of this reel seat and grip? I will probably use the Winn AR VSS GRIP, KSKSS, and Winn AR WTC foregrip. Appreciate any assistance

Thanks Michael. Guide trains for this rod are easy - I'm still debating the reel seat and handle - carbon fiber, CCT reel.sest, etc.? Too many choices...

Norm, I was going to use the KR Concept for this build, namely KL 18H, 8H, 5.5M, KB4, and the rest KT4's to a LG 4 tip top. Do you think I would need to use more than 1 KB4 guide for this build? Thanks again, Ron

Norm, Thanks so much. I really did not know what to expect from a LXF blank. I'm XF rod caster. By that I hold my rod at 90° and just give the tip a fast jerk forward. Most of the time the lure shoots towards the target like a bullet. This rod will definitely do that. Thanks again Ron

Just got my Winter rod building project blank in - A Point Blank 701LXF blank. Doing some comparisons to the PB691MLXF I built spinning last year and it actually looks like the MLXF blank is thinner near the top section of the blank compared to the PB701LXF blank. I am not familiar to ERN or CCS numbers but the PB701 blank feels like it'll handle more than the 1/16 to 3/16 ozs as listed in th

I was told they are working on a plug-in that will re-link past orders into the new site.

I used the 18H-8H-5.5M KLH guides for my PB691MLXF and MXF builds. As a 7' blank (and XF), would I need more than one KB4 guide?

I'm using the Shimano Vanford 2500 on my PB691MLXF and love it. Does the 701 blank call for a lighter or smaller reel?

My PB76MHXF blank does double duty- flipping/pitching and frog duty.

I build one rod a year in the Wintertine. I'm not in any rush and feel comfortable with my hand wrapper.

Thanks. I got real spoiled using the TVS reel seats for all my PB spinning rods Along with the AR Winn grips, it makes for a great, sensitive rod.

I usually use the TVS reel seats in 17 size. Would this lighter rod be more suited for a 16 sized reel seat? My last two rod builds have been PB691MLXF and PB691MXF both with size 17 reel seats and using KR Concept guide trains.

Thanks for everyone's input. I guess I will build this rod identical to the PB691MLXF rod I built last year using the KR Conept guides KL16H, KL8H, KL5.5M, KB4, KT4(X5) and a LG4 tip top.

Does using these guides allow for a reduction of the size guides used for a KR Concept rod? I was going to use the standard KL16H-> KL8H-> KL5.5M guides for my PB691MXF build.

I've built a Lamiglas SI 9'6" steelhead/large river trout rod and it handles 1/2 oz very easily. Super light with a KR build and cast 6 or 8 lb mono very long distances.

My last build - PB691MLXF - really came out great after using the GPS and static testing. With all Fugi components and Winn AR grips, it was a beauty to use. Casting a Texas rigged 4" Ocho stickworms with 6#braid and 6# fluoro really put a lot of those crazy Ontario smallies in the boat in 2019. Thanks for all the help with this build as well as its lighter PB691MLXF brother. Can't wait t

Last year I built the PB691MLXF and absolutely love it. This year I want to build it's "big" brother - the PB691MXF . Since the rod length is the same, and the reel size will most likely be the same (25 size), would it be safe to say I could use the same guide train - KL 16H, KL 8H, KB 5, KT4 (×6) and a LG 4(5) tip - and the same spacing?

I had previously posted this request but at the time, decided not to wrap it. I'm looking at Dale Clemens "Custom Rod Thread Art" and came across a pattern that I would like to build. It was Number 55 by Bob Dietz - "Four Arrows". Billy had previously sent me a link to a photo of the wrap on the NERBs group page. It was created by Mr. Lopez. I'm having a problem read

Guys, I'm having a problem reading the pattern as listed and also in Mr. López photo. How did the small white square between the two arrows on the patterns gets created? Was their a white underwrap done first? I just can't seem to make sense how the white sauares between Clemons wrap or Mr. López's Four Arrows wraps is created. Help!

I've built two Point Blank rods now and love them. Next build will probably be their PB691MXF to keep my PB691MLXF company. They are built using all Fugi gear from tip tops to thread... Wish they built surf rods...
