Jim,
Thanks for all your help in getting me set up with all the Perfect Fit trim needed to build my new PB761MHXF rod. I'll probably start the build after I fininsh my re-build of an old SCV "brown" 7' HF bass rod.

Clemens Custom Rod Thread Art - Pattern # 54A
I have some questions regarding this wrap. I would like to make this as a double, alternating color wrap. Should I complete one complete set (1, 2, 3, 4 threads) before starting the other set - or - Should I do both wraps at the same time (1-1-2-2-3-3-4-4, then repeat)?
Thanks

Guys
Thanks for the input. Still waiting for the blank to be shipped at this point.
Jim has helped me with the free BLING items and other questions I had. I went with the double red stripe bling and will use red, black, and silver thread. Just broke out my Clemens Custom Thread Art book to get some ideas for wraps (been awhile since I have done any). That "olive branch" techniqu

I am building this rod for flipping, pitching, frogs, and heavier plastics. I pulled the Fuji Concept Concept guide recommendations for baitcasting rods off the AR website. Looking at the setup, I feel there are not enough guides listed for a 7'6" blank.
Here's what I have that was listed:
Fuji KW 10 - KW 5.5 - KB 4 - KB 4 - KB 4 - KB 4 - KT 4 - KT 4 - KT 4 - KT 4 - KT 4 than a Fuji

Jim,
Really excited about building a Point Blank rod. I am looking at the PB761MHXF for light flipping. Is there a guide size/spacing list that you could point me to as a starting point?
I have used RECOIL guides on a lot of freshwater spinning rods and was thinking about using them to keep the rod tip light. Recommendations? Want to keep it light to match up with my Chronarch 200E7 baitc

I found the grips but could not find the Perfect Fit trim rings. The only place I have seen them is in the AR catalog.
Thanks

Looking for some guidance on what type of spinning rods are normally used when fishing the Lake Erie tribs in PA for steelhead.
Are 9'6" rods preferred over the longer 10'6" noodle rods? If so, what line rating - 4-8 lb test or 6-8 lb test would work? The rod will need to double as a long distance rod for Western Maryland trout fishing (trout magnets).
Do "Michigan" han

How well do these guides hold up to longer (9'6" +) steelhead rods while fishing in the colder weather? I heard they are terrible for ice removal.

Used RECOIL fly guides for a 10' 6 wt fly rod and am really satisified with the results.

Thanks. Intent was to use ultralight single foot RECOIL guides and a woven graphite butt section. Did this on a Lami Black Salt 7' rod and it turned out super lightweight. Guess I'll search around guide spacings for this type of setup. Might look into how they setup steelhead rods in spinning...

Looking at Dale Clemens "Custom Rod Thread Art", I came across a pattern that I would like to build. It was Number 55 by Bob Dietz - "Four Arrows". If anyone has wrapped this pattern, could you please post photos? I think it would look great on a Breakaway Omega 10' 6" rod I am getting ready to build.
Appreciate any assistance,

Tom et al,
Those feather inlays look great! That's just what I will do... I took a fly tying class last month and it looks like I'll be picking up another addictive hobby!

Getting ready to start building another fly rod and want to do some fancy thread on this one. Looking at Clemens "Custom Rod Threat Art", the pattern "Jets" by George Patic caught my eye. Has any one wrapped a fly rod with this pattern?
Are there any other patterns that would work on a fly rod due to the small diameter? Most of the patterns I've viewed work best on med-lar

Tom,
So I really shouldn't bend (camel hump or whatever) the flat band at all - just leave it as is and wrap so it (and the keeper ring) can move freely?

Dave O,
The band can be bent so that is probably what I'll do - create a "camel hump" in the middle for the ring to rest . I can then wrap from the flat part of the band toward the newly created "camel hump" in the middle of the band.
Thanks

I was looking to put some thread inlays into a new fly rod I am building. The top section looks very narrow and it seems this would be nearly impossible - especially near the tip (4 mm). Can this be done or is the top section just too skinny to attempt a feat such as this? I built an ultralight 5'4" rod once and just wrapping the guides kicked my butt...
Thanks

Dave,
The nickel silver bar stock is totally flat - no rises or humps. My big concern is how much of this gets wrapped (from either end towards the ring) on the rod. Do I leave some space for the ring to move left or right??

I recently purchased a hookeeper for a new fly rod I am building. The hookeeper is comprised of two parts - one nickel silver band about 1+" long and a nickel silver ring. I understand that I will probably be wrapping most of the band with the thread of my choice when I lay it on the rod. How much of the band would be left unwrapped and be visible with the ring?
Thanks

I recently purchased a Lami 9'4wt XMG blank. The blank is garnet (burgundy) in color. What colors would work best with this blank? I plan on using Snake Brand snakes, tip top, and a Select Series Agate guide as a stripper (color yet to be determined but probably Type 4).
Appreciate any ideas...
Thanks
