I have quite a few AllStar rods. I am trying to find out the guides they used on their TS series rods. It has a blue ring and smoke or gunmetal grey frame. Also their AC series rods produced this year.

Chris, don't feel alone. I have color blindness. It causes me a real problem trying to match a rod color to a set of thread colors.

219. Re: Rod Market
Bob, I'm not looking for a business. I wondering what kind of fishing market generates enough demand for builders and sponsers of this site to maintain a business? Is it East/West Coast driven? Fly rod business? Are there other markets outside the US that generate sales?

220. Rod Market
I counted almost 50 rods in my shop. Going back to when I was 14. I'm now 52. Fished bass tournaments since I was 16. I've stepped on and broken my share of rods, guides, etc. from either slamming a rod locker door on a rod, my big feet or who knows what.
I went to buy some new rods a couple of months ago. Decided to look at building a rod. I had an old Cabela's hand wrapping set up..

221. Another PG question
Never used PermaGloss.
I read quite a few post and have picked up the following.
-Bad vapors, open the windows.
-Plastic caps bad to break. Try Testors 1/4 oz. paint thinner caps. Invert so liner is wet and sit back upright.
-Moisture cured finish
-Saw photos and comments on number of coats.
What is the general suggested method of applying PC to a.) Threads b.) refinish for old rod ?

Michael, I took Tom's advice for my last 2 rods and the result was great compared to my first rod. I hand turned then used a 4 rpm motor for drying. I hand turned the rod for about 40 minutes after my last guide. I was advised that too much finish is a problem. That seems to be the case. I have used a spatala for all rods. On the last rod I used a very narrow spatala for the last 3 guides.

I have started out repairing and rebuilding my bass rods as well as my buddies in a local bass club. All types from flippin stiks, crankbait, spinner bait, ect. Both Casting and Spinning. No flyrods. I have not yet started a new rod from the ground up.
Could I get some comments on the size of thread you might consider? I really apprcreciate your comments on some of my earlier dumb ques

233. CP question
I've been using FC , CP on regular thread, size A, . First coat is fine but I have noticed some inconsistant absorbion with the thread. I apply a second coat and will get, what appears to me when it dries, a white film. I assume the thread will not absorb as much as I applied. After it dries is there any way to remove the excess? Other than me learning not to apply too much on the second coat
