I have been using A size thread for my guide replacement on various types of bass rods. Some Trimar thread as well. What do the movers and shackers in the custom rod business use? What do build up rod maufactures such as G. Loomis and St. Croix use? This covers a large range of rods from 6' spinner bait rods, Crankin sticks and flippin sticks as well. I have not seen a lot of comme

Are there any products that could be used as an emergency guide finish with a 12 hr cure time before use? Idea being to remove the guide later and rework to a more accepted norm.

I noticed a comment in a recent issue of RodBuilder concerning how Heddonuse to ink by hand all of the rod information. I still have the remains on one of theie rods and remember the inking work. Can you still do that today? How would you apply the lettering? How did Heddon apply their lettering? Any thoughts or comments?

I'm getting ready to start a flippin stick that has a telescoping blank. Are there any dos and don'ts that might save me some headaches?

The other difference that has just been touched on is there is hardly no stretch with braid. It is harder on both rods and reels. Shock effect with quick hard sets even on your hand, wrist and forearm can be a problem. Or a rod snapping and coming back into your face. This is more of a problem if you are fishing close, say flipping for bass at 15 ft. . Line breakage with whip lash went a re

I have only used Lite formulas on the work I have done todate. Got some High build coming just to experiment with to see how it works. I have experimented with some pigments in the lite formulas to get a tinted finish coat. I have a blank set up for practice then it dawned on me, Lite or high build?

For those of you who are experienced at marbling, which type of finish do you use. A high build formula or a lite formula?

I got a bottle last year and reworked several rods by sanding the cork until fresh cork showed itself. I varied the grit of sandpaper from 60 to 100. I had my doughts but am a real fan today. I have a year of good results. I have reworked about 12 rods with it and really like it. GOOD STUFF.

I have a bottle of Threadmaster Lite purchased last year. It has not been opened nor has it been exposed to freezing temps. It has turned to a light amber color. Question, will this efffect its function or color of the cured finish?

I've had some of the same as Timothy. I find that looking at FC equipment is a guess on what you are buying such as stands. I lean more toward other manufactures only because the distributors give more info on what is or is not included. To me its a marketing problem.

I am replacing a set of guides on an old graphite rod which had a very thin finish, clear, that pealed off. Raw graphite. I want to clean and wax the blank. A. Can this be done? B. If so, after or before I wrap the guides? C. What kind of wax?

I understand that it is Rice thread. I have had some ordered for some months now and have yet to see the first spool. I have emailed Angler's Workshop several times and for a while got an answer but now nothing. Disappointed to say the least. You should not advertise a product if you do not have it to sell and ship. I even offered to purchase some additional products to help on shipping, m

I'm new to the craft but it seems that compared to the final finish, FC High Build, FC Lite, Permagloss, etc, etc. which gets a lot of comments and very good tips and techniques from most of the experienced rodmakers that respond to this site, there is not a lot of comments on the fine points of CP. I have been using FC CP with FC Lite Build. One good pointer I got early was to "learn&qu
