By request we searched all of or wood sources in the far north and found some gorgeous Northern White Cedar. This came from a small "mom and pop" sawmill in the UP of Michigan. Northern White Cedar is a rod building classic that goes back to the old days of rod building. Very strong straight grained and light in weight, the pieces we have posted on our website weigh LESS than 5 ounces p

Chad: Tom and JP are right on the money with thier advice. If you're making a presentation rod that will probably never get wet, go for it. It does a very nice job as a finish top coat but is not intended to my knowledge for outdoor exposure. Be sure and seal the end grain of your insert with whatever you use. Steve

The Box Elder Burl in the blue and the black dyed and stabilized reelseat blanks and rod handle blanks are back in stock and have been posted on our website. We ran out of these just a few days after re-launching our website about a month ago. Thanks to all for being patient and for your support. Please email us with any comments or questions. Thomas: Kerry touched on a VERY important point. Your wood has to be dried to no more than 10% moisture content before it can be stabilized. We kiln dry all of our wood down to 6% to 8% moisture before it goes out. Steve

Thomas: There are several great stabilizing companies out there and we've used about all of them. I would encourage you to go to www.woodlab.biz and check out Michael's website. We send nearly all of our wood to Wood Lab now and are very happy with every aspect of his process, plus he's a GREAT guy to boot! He's the man I would suggest you talk to. To everyone that stopped by our booth this past weekend a big THANK YOU!! My parnter Brian and I had a ball, learned a BUNCH thanks to everyone's support and great comments and compliments. This was our 1st ICRBE show but it will not be our last! I didn't think it was possible for 2 adult men to "jabber jaw" for 15 straight hours on our way back home, but we did. Our main topic was obvi

Thomas: I suggest you have your cobs stabilized. I would be concerned about them not having enough strength no matter how much CA glue you used. Check WSSI's website (www.stabilizedwood.com). Mike Ludeman is the owner, he does the majority of our stabilizing for us. Might be a little "pricey" unless you're having a bunch of them done. If you run into problems getting this done, let me k

Fred: You bet!! I talked to Mike Barkley, Mark Blabaum and a few other builders and picked their brain on what and how much to have at the show. This is the 1st time for us so we want to do our best to do it right. My partner Brian and I have been drying, cutting and sending wood out for stabilizing for 2 months now. And yes, we will have stabilized, dyed and stabilized and unstabilized wood in

A customer of ours in Argentina is looking for a supplier for Nickel Silver bar stock and tubing to manufacture his own reel seat hardware. Evidently Nickel Silver is hard to come by or not available in Argentina. Any suggestions I can forward to this customer? Thanks in advance for your help and guidance.
