We just listed Black Ash Burl in "Ghost" Red on our website in reel seat blank size. Rod handle blanks will be added later this weekend. This Black Ash Burl has gone through a 2 step stabilizing / dyeing and stabilizing process that allows the natural color of the wood and grain to come through with a "ghost" imprint of red throughout the piece. A different and unique look tha

Thanks, Tom. What we're talking about here is a simple matter of terminology and opinion. Conventional burl does grow as an outer growth either on the trunk, limbs or in the roots of the tree. Burl "figure" is referred to as any unusual or deformed grain figure in the wood. Randolph is welcome to call what we listed walnut crotch. We'll call it walnut crotch burl.

Randolph: You're certainly entitled to your opinion. The definition of burl is: "tree growth in which the grain has grown in an unusual or deformed manner". We've heard this type of wood called crotch burl, feather burl, flame burl, rat-tail burl and a few others. We've always called this crotch burl and will continue to do so. It may not fit your definition but it fits ours just fine.

60. Pink
Yep, PINK! Over the years we've had many requests for pink stabilized wood for custom reel seat inserts. Color quality has always been our concern in the past and we have put off pursuing this until now. We sent 4 different woods off to our stabilizer since he said he was up to the task. The results are VERY bright! If your looking for that bright pink for your lady's rod building project check
