Hiya all I built a homemade lathe about a year ago. It works great but im not happy with the thread guides I came up with, they dont look that nice and not the smoothest things in the world. I would like to make them like the renzetti's thread guides but I am limited to hand tools. Something thicker and very smooth to keep the thread in perfect condition as it makes it way to the blank.

I was wondering if anyone knows a sponsor who carries/can source fishhawk thread and Pacbay HLS single foot hook keeper. I am tied of buying little tiny items from different vendors and paying more for shipping than the item cost.
Thanks all!

I pack the nose of the ACS seat with epoxy after its mounted. Since the blank is tapered there is always going to be a gap at the top of the reel seat.

Poke a hole in the cap or use the yorkers. Make the hole just snug enough to hold the syringes and thats where they stay. That little sticker on the syringes that tells you which is used in what bottle will come off eventually. Mark them somehow so you never end up using the oposite syringes and screw up the mixture.

I give you a 0% - 1% chance of leveling it by simply putting on another coat. Sanding is the only way now that I know of.
Next time try brushing the finish the long way to help it level\distribute it better. Also you can apply heat to make the threadmaster turn very very thin like wa

Dont know if anyone has thought of this in the past but...
I got to thinking when I saw a caulking gun for $3.99 at home depot this evening. It would make a good low cost ring clamp for glueing up cork grips. The gun and a 1/4 inch rod to keep the rings aligned would work well.

220. Re: Awesome stuff
When I first joined these forums, I asked about bulk off brand epoxy from some guy that sells on @#$%&. With the responses I got I thought maybe I should go into the withness protection program or at very least never reveal my address here! I dont think I will ever believe anything said here about a product that has is sponsored here without having tried it for myself first.

15 min epoxy to hold the grips and handles on ?!?!?. I would say to hold cork rings together.

Ahh nah, I was refering to the fellows over at BFHP questioning some of those marketing terms Bill Stevens was refering to.
Like “Ampli-fibersâ€.
PS: I believe I saw our very own Tom Kirkman aplogizing on BFHP recently. So there must be some talent there and not just pasters and posers.

Heres another one of my posts from a different forum about shipping rods..
**********************************
*Warning* if you do not have insurance on the item when shipping via USPS its just plain to bad when it comes times to put in a claim.
If you are lucky you will get a "sorry" about your package being lost and nothing else.
If your unlucky you will just get a NEXT

Part of a responce I posted in another forum...
*******************************
Heres a tip for shipping rods with USPS.
If you are shipping a 6'6" or less you can stay under 84" with lenth and girth if you use a thin tube you will pay something like 12 bucks to ship it with insurance via priority if I remember right. After 84" the price really jumps.

For further reading on this subject you could do a seach on the BFHP and see Trey Kistler get reamed for his boasts. When on the BFHP its best to know your stuff or be prepared to have your butt handed to you.

I dont understand why people would think they are. Its just silly. Even if they were. What would it do? Make the rod feel .02 OZ lighter?!?
Their rods arent even that light. Thats why they do not publish the weights. LOL. I have a flipin stick that weights 3.6 OZ. Thats the weight of the lightest helium rod. Its all just a marketing ploy.

They are all good its. The problem lies between the worktable and the seat. You have to practice.

231. Re: Titan guides
The titan ring locks I have seem to just as good as the fuji. I wouldnt recomend the non-ring locks as the guides are expensive. I do have the non- locked also and the rings have not fallen out, but still these guides arent cheap so the extra secuirty is worth it. I think they should ring lock all their guides.

Use the low build, from my experience the high is to thick to release the bubbles that tend come up very slowly from underwraps. If if you use the high then heat it p

They have a slightly bigger OD than the ECS, where they would but up against the cork handle. If that makes any difference to you.

I do the same when doing a freshwater rod tht does not require long wraps. What I do it simple not lock the rod in the chuck I just clamp it down with the rod support wheels it does not move side to side or come lose. Note* I am not using a pac bay tho not sure if the pac bay can do this.

Man I dont know who is running the marketing and stuff over at St. Croix. They must think Bass fishermen are a bunch of fruity pansies with all their painted and glossy blanks could it be any more cheesy. Their saving grace was the Avid line but now they went ahead and colored that too. I was all excited to see their new salt water stuff then realized they colored them too. I know they want peopl

To much heat and a thin coat will cause flex coat to repel, especially if the surface below is slick like a sticker.

I like to think the MBs have a bit more backbone due to the taper but, from brand to brand that may not be true.
Im very surprised that I have never seen this referenced here, have a look at this rod database it tells you a whole lot about a blank and helps you compare blanks in seconds. Power Efficiency is the key here to see which is going to feel light but yet be powerful for its weight.

I think he is saying that he does not like heavy duty boat guides and wants to try and substitute the ST guides for this purpose. But he is not sure if they will be strong enough for what he is going to use them for. Your post of telling him to go elsewhere doesnt really help answer his question.
Henry,
If you dont get a good answer here I would get a hold of one ST guide and try and si
