Yeah I burned two so far. I got myself a $30 variable speed drill with a 1/4 inch nut and bolt to hold the pulley on the chuck, strapped it down along with this 6 amp foot pedal (very bottom of page in link) and stopped throwing money away on those daytons.

I ment just as accents and inbetween split grips not halfway up the rod. Soemthing liek this in addition to a couple of accent threads would look just as nice to me as a butt wrap or something. I dont understand where the weight is, i guess you mean in the finish? Cause the carbon cloth is practically weightless. The same weight we add to put any kind of decoration applys in this. Perhaps im just

Heh good luck with that... That ordeal with the monopoly they have in this country is a mess. Watch out for the 3 month wait on parts.

Has anyone ever tried wrapping a sheet of carbon fiber cloth around a blank and then applying finish to it? I see some of these factory rods with the carbon fiber look added to them and it gave me that idea. What about using the cloth to wrap guides on?

Im thinking those paints on blanks are two part auto type paints with some flex agents in there. Which are very dangerous to our bodies. If thats the case without the proper gear and some training on safty and proper use id stay away..

The lite version takes alot longer to cure than the high build. Here where I live its pretty cold it takes 10 hours or maybe more I wait at least 15 hours before I touch the lite build.

Hi all, I was wondering if anyone has long term expirience with these these types of guides with the colored blue rings. I believe amtak, batson and pacbay are using the same supplier for these. Forgive me if that is not correct. Anyways my question is do the ring colors fade over time from wear or anything? Or is this blue color solid thoughout the ring. I built a few rods with them but n

Sanding grit stuck in finish? perhaps it wasnt 100% dry and some of your sandings got stuck in the finish. Maybe Silicone in sand paper contaminated the finish. I like to wait days befire I sand a finish. Some brands stay soft for a while.

I am confused by your question. You said 3 trims then you say they are single. Do you mean 3 singles like the ones in the middle of this under wrap? If so thats done by wrapping two threads side by side at the same time.

Anyone know a blank with these specs or close to in white color. Or any alternatively colored blanks with these specs at all? 7'6" to 7'10', 15 to 30 lb, 3/4 to 4 oz Thanks!

If you want something real professional you need something with wheels liek the way a renzetti works the wheels can lock the blank in palce it will not move side to side or any direction for that matter. All you really need is the wheels the rest can be made easy out of wood or whatever your imagination comes up with.

I rebuilt 3 of them that aparently were built in japan and brought here by the owner. Japanese are fond of the split grip design. Have a look on matagi's site for handle ideas.

There are litterally hundreds of us here on the site that can lay finish that doesnt need any sanding. Just practice and there is no need for sanding or trying to find other things to coat the rod with.

The trick is to have the rod in rod dryer with a good chuck and supports that will hold the rod perfectly as it spins not letting the rod move fore and aft at all. This takes a good quality rod dryer unfortunatly. Another thing thats is must have is something to support your hand. A block of wood at the right height will keep ya steady as can be to get that perfect line around your rod.
