Yeah. The big test is in the durability and longevity. I re-built my spinning rods last year and fished the whole season and so fa so good. I bent one of the running guides pretty good on transport while it was in my kayak. But, it bent right back into position and hasn't failed.
I also only use their measurements for the first three guides and then the runners per normal static test.

What about the new titanium micro / fly and titanium high frame guides? Are they double swaged?

The total absence of braid knots has been a great relief for me this year and I give the MW guide system all the credit. No knots even when using a weightless soft jerk minnow (fluke) which has always been the killer for creating knots. I've also used the newer high frame Fuji's that are awesome. But, still couldn't stop the knots. The MW's have. And they increase casting efficiency. I'm a believ

I guess having a finish that doesn't rock harden completely allows it to be more flexible. But, doesn't it lend itself to more damage? Or, is it kind of like cork that will basically bounce back (so to speak) and re-fill an area that has been hit/gouged? Certainly goes against the traditional. Which doesn't bother me. But, do customers have a problem w/ it since their knowledge is of a rock hard

The syringes w/ the stopper caps that insert into the top of a finish bottle have been a great help for me in mixing equal parts of finish.

Anyone have any specs for the Pac Bay SV Minima 4 guides? It may be me, but I don't see a height chart in their catalog. It appears every other guide has a detailed chart except the Minima.

I personally have had no success with the Fuji GPS software. But, I love the KLH guides. I would stick w/ the 27x method. Set your choke guide and line it up as usual.

These Minima's look very cool for fly rods. I want to give them a try. Probably rewrap my CTS Affinity 7 wt.
Tom, I see your recommending the high framed 4's for strippers. What's the double swaged thing mean? The 3's look like the same guide other than the gold ring.
Then which for the runners? The 4's look like they're a single foot wire guide and the 3's have their fly guide w/ ring & la

Yeah. I doubt most fly lines would pass thru a 3 or 4. Maybe a 5. Again, depending on line wgt.
You're right, just have to give it a try. I think I used 6's on my other rods.

I've used single foot ringed guides on a few fly rods and actually prefer them over thengle foot snakes or Recoils. So, I was wondering.of the micro guides would work too. I'm just wondering what might be too small. Of course, I guess it all depends on line size . Anybody have any experience?
Thanks

I really like the Fuji KL-H guides. High frame single foot w/ a smaller ring to choke line quicker. I'm also a fan of the Am Tack Microwave guide system. Makes choosing and placing guides very simple and they work.

The only technique I could think of would be if your throwing hard jerkbaits from the deck of a bass/jet boat. Much of the time your rod is pointed straight down at the water while jerking/twitching. Seems it might be better to have guides on the top of the rod. I don't have much personal experience w/ this type of fishing. But, it's the only one I can think of where the spiral may not be at its

Try CTS. You'll have to special order. But should still be avail.

I like the KL-H guides. However, I'm w/ Bill. Try the Microwave Guides. So far, they're proving themselves to me.

If you try the new KL-H series (high frame, small ring) guides from Fuji you can get that first guide down to a 20 no problem. Awesome guides. Otherwise, I think the only way to keep the proper alignment is w/ the 25.

IMHO a casting rod is the incorrect tool for finesse fishing. That's what spinning rods are made for.
I think the only time a spiral wrap isn't the best/only way to go is for hard jerkbait fishing from a boat. Most of the time your rod tip is pointed straight down at the water. Otherwise, the sw is awesome. You'll get many diff. ways of rotating the guides around the rod. A search on this site

Granted, I haven't done any extensive casting w/ the MW's yet. But, from what I have, it's good. I re-wrapped a CTS blank that I had some Fuji K series guides set up w/ the NGC and can I tell a difference. You may say that you can cast as far w/ a good NGC set up and that's probably true. But, guaranteed I can cast that same distance w/ less effort w/ the MW's. To me it's the real deal.
I guess

I just re-wrapped an old CTS blank w/ the mcrwv guides. Test casts in the bckyrd felt pretty darn good. Really want to see if it can help reduce wind knots w/ braid.

I've built on the Affinity fly blanks and the tournament spinning blanks. Best rods I've ever used. Not easy to come by anymore.

112. Fuji GPS
I just saw that some reel models have been added to the Anglers Resource (Fuji) GPS site. So, I clicked on the Stradic 2500 reel and got all the calculations & guide placements for the guides I used. Weird thing is, they're not anywhere near what I've come up w/ using the 27x method. Strange. Anyone else find this situation?
I know, space them out and test cast. I will. Just wondering.

I had a hard time with metallic thread at first . it tends to twist and knot if you're not careful. But it looks really good and will hold up fine. Use your thread tension device properly and it takes care of most problems .

118. Acetone?
Is it ok to use Acetone to clean syringes? I'm told it leaves no residue behind like some alcohols.
I assume I want to clean syringes if I change between finish types. Unfortunately, I only have 2 syringes at the moment. More on order.
Thanks

Not to completely hi-jack the thread. But, does LS have a self leveler?
