I don't have any questions about their durability. I like the high framed Minimas for the stripping guides.
I just don't like the Minima tips because they're not stainless framed and they're heavier than the titanium tips. But, a Minima guide as a tip top is even 1/2 the weight of the titanium tip. So, the reduced weight at the tip is a plus. I use a few locking wraps and haven't had any problem

I'm a big fan of using a minima guides on my fly rods and as a tip top. I've had no problems on my 5 wt. or 8 wt. But, I'm wondering if the same would hold true for a heavier weight rod like 10/11 that would be used in saltwater for bonefish, permit, tarpon, peacock bass etc.? I'm assuming it would work fine. But, we know about assuming. I'm not usually fishing for, or, catching fish the size tha

That'a not the issue. I want to sell the guides so I need to know what I've got. There's a big price difference for solid titanium framed guides (which I think most of these are) and standard stainless. But, I also don't want to charge someone too much for a guide. I just need to know what I've got.

I'm wondering if anyone has any info concerning the weights of some of Fuji's different style guides. I'm thinking I've seen some posts from people who have weighed guides. Unfortunately, the guys at Anglers Resources don't have any weight charts.
I'm going through a bunch of components I've accumulated over the years and since these guides aren't in any packaging or anything, I can't tell exa

Thanks guys.
I just don't want to charge somebody too much for guides. There's quite a price jump up to the titaniums. Don't want to cheat myself either. Maybe the Anglers Resource guys might know for sure.

I've got a bunch of Fuji single foot, Y framed guides and small running guides that I want to sell. I think that most are titanium frames. But, I'm not sure.
Do all of Fuji's titanium framed guides have a T stamped on the foot? I have some that do and some that don't. I thought the T was for a different height guide of the same size. But, now I wonder if that doesn't stand for titanium. The sma

Dan Craft has CCS #'s for most of his fly blanks and they're awesome.

Especially from companies who offer their products mainly/solely to rod builders who care about such things. It allows us to provide the correct rod to fit the anglers need quickly & efficiently. They're not selling to the average public who, unfortunately,
will probably never take the time to understand or care about such things.

I know they're very new.
I've contacted Batson about CCS #'s in the past and by their response it doesn't seem they're big believers in the system. I've found it very useful. Not sure why they're not fans.

I see they're rated as very fast. Just curious if anyone has any CCS #'s yet.
Thanks

I've heard a few complaints on the sk's for the big gap under the hand.
I do have a PB exposed seat and think it would be great but the 16 seems small for my hand. Pretty sure 18 too big. And I've been told they're discontinued.
May try an alps. Looks like thumb may rest ok on hood and not threads. But may still be too small for my hand. I guess I won't know til I try.
Thanks for input

I've heard that about the SK seats. Sounds like the alps are a better design.

I only use uplocking seats so that my thumb rests on hood or foregrip. But downlocknig seat is opposite.

I'm thinking about trying a split seat (alps, minima) on a spin rod and as wondering what people have found as far as pros & cons. It appears to me that your thumb will rest on the threads of the seat hood which seems uncomfortable. I like the Idea of reduced weight and blank contact for sensitivity. Just seeing what some opinions might be.
Thanks

There's still some data at . I don't think it's active anymore. But, there is some data available.
Maybe someone could take up the project of getting it up and running. I'd even be willing to donate a few bucks if that's what it takes. Or, maybe there's just not enough interest like you said. Shame.
I have that same blank and will be doing the testing soon. I'll let you know what I find. From

81. Re: Kayaks
That's the case. If you're like me, you need to make a constant effort to keep the rod more away from your body until the muscle memory kicks in. Or, move the reel seat down a bit to accomodate. It works.
When sitting in a kayak w/ your legs out in front of your body and your butt sometimes below your knees, your clothing will bunch up and can catch the butt of your rod. It actually happens. You

82. Re: Kayaks
My boat is set up good (which actually has nothing to do with the issue) and the fact that my rod butt would get caught up in my bunched up shirt/jacket while in a sitting position isn't a belief. It''s a fact. Didn't happen all the time. But, when it did it was annoying. Maybe I just naturally fish with my rod lower than most. Not sure.
It was an easy fix.

83. Re: Kayaks
I fish mainly from a canoe (with my wife) and from a Native Ultimate 12 (kind of a hybrid canoe/kayak) when solo. I only fish rivers so the kayak is the best vessel. You can move with such stealth and the manufacturers are creating such amazing boats specifically designed for fishing. I can even stand in mine fairly well. Getting better anyway.
I did drop my reel seats on my spinning rods about

I have to say that I do like the ringed guides for fly rods. It may just be me, but I can feel the increased line speed. It's just a smoother, easier flow for me.

I'll give it a try.
I thought I'd seen posts from folks who had digital scales and had weighed lots of guides. I guess I thought fly guides would be the most researched since they're the most important as far as weight goes.

Does anyone have any info to compare the weights of different fly guides & tips? I find some weight charts for some but not enough to actually compare.
The guides I'm thinking of are the Fuji solid titanium (TLSG), Recoil single foots, and H&H single foots specifically.
Thanks for any info.

That's pretty much what I had gathered. I finally got a link to some of the CCS data to work and saw some of the rods tested.
I wish Batson would start testing their rods like the MHX guys.
Thanks

So many of "the numbers" are all over the place on the same blanks. I really don't trust the data that much. No way of knowing if CCS was done correctly.
You're right, I'm looking for real world opinion from fished rods. I guess I'm weird because I have an opinion on every rod I fish.

I'm wondering if anyone might know how the Batson RX8 extra-fast action fly blanks compare to other blanks. I looked for some CCS data but it looks like it's all fairly dated. I use them for spinning & casting but have never built on their fly blanks.
My personal experience is with the CTS Affinity line and Dan Craft Five Rivers series. I consider the CTS fast and the FR's extra fast. I like

Thanks.
And is it safe to say that they're lighter than the Minima 4's since they're solid titanium compared to the ss? I don't see a weight chart for the 4's.
