151. Re: Picture?
I've read the instructions @Tom, I created an account over there - it never worked properly or something. I have no issues with modern technology and have never struggled accessing the internet.
...
I'll admit I stand corrected on the existence of a search function, but it doesn't exist on a mobile device which has been the only way I've accessed the archive. Most of my time on this forum h

I mean it's honest marketing, it's definitely at least 140% more sensitive than a stick.

153. Re: Picture?
I will never look through the photo archive, photos are way more quickly lost in there. There's no way to search for and find what I'm looking for. It's just aimless pages and pages and half random photos based on very generic categories. In 2023 it's almost obsolete, the best way would be to have photos inside of relevant threads. They will be found and seen by newcomers way more easily, I gave

@Matt I agree its certainly not always, i never meant to imply that. Would you not say it's "usually" the case that SJ blanks are faster than MB blanks?
If I'm mistaken then I very much would like to hear what others have to say about what makes an SJ an SJ and an MB an MB because I've been under that impression for a bit now haha

Download the app for android or Apple, easiest and quickest way. It also makes it so you can post the picture in the same thread you want to talk about it in.
I've never had luck uploading the other way and I gave up trying to look through those images because the set up is clunky and not worth digging through.
The app is the best way

Which two companies couldn't explain the difference for you?
It's pretty much all in the taper - a spin jig rod is usually faster action than a Magbass. I'm not sure if there's a power difference - but it really doesn't matter because companies just make up power ratings and they rarely mean more than to the same as saying it's cold out or it's warm out. You'll know to wear more or less layer

Awesome, great Job @Kevin - appreciate the effort you put into this.
I've edited the first post to contain the entire list that we have generated so far, so that anybody who searches the site for a specific blank will pull up this thread as a result.
@everybody else - please keep the data coming in.
@Kevin, is there a way to have multiple users with the ability to edit the spreadsheet

If poured into a baking pan with something as a mandrel laying flat on it wouldn't that just create an uneven core to turn with the depth of the foam being above the mandrel and little to none below it?

@ERNIE - couple of quick questions:
Have you wrapped locking wraps before?
Have you ever had a guide pulled off of a rod while fishing without a locking wrap?

@David I'd love to talk more about your building and balancing. If you wouldn't mind shoot me an email, no pressure if you don't to talk to strangers- I didn't until I joined this board haha
Some good advice above I can't really add to except to second that you should build for comfort and technique (may

@MARK thanks, I'm very curious how much heavier than same size other brand runner? I want ot build as light as possible with most builds, and it all adds up. Every gram counts

Al works at Northfork, and I've only heard great things about that man... but @KENDALL thank you for the list, I have some homework to do and I'm excited to dive into some of these names I'm either unfamiliar with or not familiar enough with.

My understanding is don't use standard machine thread to wrap guides, but metallic machine thread is fine to use

@Aleks
While we're on the topic - from your research is there any measurable difference in sensitivity/performance between blanks that are sanded vs un-sanded?
Is there a measurable difference between bare blanks and blanks that have either been coated or painted?
As I search through the catacombs of this forum reading threads long forgotten, many of the topics are still alive and well

@Chris awesome ????I think you're right, if I drive 1,055 MPH I can get there in about 3 hours. I just finished shoveling out the cars and drive way, I'm leaving now to account for bathroom breaks and snacks - I stop for food like bass gently lift my lure and stick it into a log just in time for my hook set - often!

I'm going to be making an emerald green rod with gold guides and trim - still gotta figure out main thread and grips and seat - but I'm liking the ideas above - I can see chocolate with the gold guides working well together.

@David I meant in regards to their testing process for measuring sensitivity.
I think they're as tricky as Shimano claiming the Poison Adrena has 140% increased sensitivity- how did Shimano measure it? 140% more sensitive than what? Just as bad as Tika in one sense - no real point of reference or specific comparison.
Shimano is most certainly selling rods based on that claim, because that

Bottom line essentially is having an arsenal of combos that will all behave more similarly than not when put to use. All on axis or all on spine - but regardless we humans will adapt and modify our cast as we learn the rods behavior (as mentioned above).
Gary Loomis believes that building on the spine is the way to build a rod, and seems to have advocated for this for about 40 years. He claims

@RONALD I think a better question might be "what blank can I buy that is comparable quality to "x" rod?
My guess is Shimano blanks are unavailable to the public, I'm pretty sure after they bought Loomis they eventually scrapped their blank sales in the name of profit.
