I would also add, that as somebody who has never seen the aurora, but can deeply appreciate the beauty of God’s creation - that I have heard Iceland is a wonderful vacation spot, particularly because the aurora can be hyper intense and enthralling over over. @Tom over seen it said, and your comment would also imply, that sanded blanks are softer than the same blank unwanted. So there's that to consider, although I'm not sure how much of a difference could be measured. Also, not every manufacturer passes on the labor savings to their consumer - same price sanded or unsanded.

I've fished 30 ft leaders on an FG not with finesse line and 30/40# braid to 17# fluoro for 5-10 trips without any issues.
