Hi,
Updated instructions for tweaking Win7 & Win8 to run VisualWRAP have been posted on the ThreadCentral forum:
A batch file is available for download to automatically unregister or register the ocx & dll files which previously had to be done manually from the command prompt. This should simplify things somewhat.
Any issues please email me.

Best wishes and condolences to Col's family.
I don't understand why things happen in life, but I am glad to have had correspondence with Col. I know that rod building, especially in Australia, is richer for his contribution and is lucky to have benefited from his actions. Thank you Col.

Hi,
Some use an app called WinOnX that allows them to run vizwrap on a Mac.
I haven't heard of vizweave running on it.

John,
No, the .vwi file is actually a bitmap file. If you want jpg the best option is to use the windows snipping tool. That will let you save the snipped image as a variety of different file types.

Hi John,
There is a snipping tool in Windows 7 :
It is very easy to use. When you launch it it allows you to drag a box around the image on the screen you want to save. You can then copy that cropped image to the clipboard and paste it wherever you want to.
There is another option. In the vizwrap Tools menu there is a "Save Image" option. This will save the Flat View window a

98. Re: Butt wraps
Vizwrap lets you you limit the "scope" of the pattern by letting you select which sections you want to see wrapped. There is a Scope button which pops up a list of sections, and you choose which sections you want to see wrapped.
Hope thathelps, but I'm not sure if that i swhat you're asking?

Thank you to all the positive comments made above.
"teh book" has a good tutorial that will certainly help. There is also a script tutorial on the following web page (look for the link in the centre of the page about half way down). In this tutorial I show how to set up a script for Pattern no. 10 from Clemens Custom Rod Thread Art:
It is possible to run it on a Mac using the W

Hi Cosimo,
Got your email this morning, response sent.
Hi Paul,
Yes, you nominate the number of pattern repeats and the diameters at each end of the wrap, and vizwrap will calculate the tapered offset spacing. It produces a spacing chart, which is fine for square wraps, but also adjusts the 2D view of the pattern to account for the taper, so you can print out any pattern true-to-size and th

Hi,
Drop me an email and I can help out.
Every system is different, even if they have the same operating system installed.
I can log into systems remotely and make the required tweaks to get vizwrap running.

103. Re: Rod donations
If I can put in a plug for the Michigan Rod Builders, I donated some stuff to one of their gatherings, and promptly received a certificate of appreciation and several emails of thanks and support from their members. I wasn't expecting anything in return and the response I got was really overwhelming. Now THAT'S how you do it! A simple thank you does not cost anything yet makes all the difference

Trial and error is good.
Trial and error with VisualWRAP is better! :-) You can quickly play with different sizes on the screen until you are happy with the proportions.
The middle cross fills in the centre of the Maltese Cross.
The outer points of the diamond wrap determine the height & width of the Maltese Cross. As one diamond (or box) gets wrapped in another diamond (or box) gets wra

Mike was very generous with his time and information and he downplayed it. Top guy. I was privileged to meet him on several occasions and his attitude to the craft and others is inspirational. My best wishes to Mike and his family.

106. Re: Visual Weave
Some guys use an emulator. There is a free ( or almost free) one called WinOnX which seems to work OK for Wrap. I haven't seen it used for Weave but it would be worth a try. If you have a Mac and want to try it please email me.
Thanks

Hi All,
I haven't heard of issues installing vizWeave on Win 7 or 8. Some issues with vizWrap, yes, but not Weave to my knowledge?
If any problems are encountered please send me an email and I will work with you to resolve.

Have you seen the really small pegs sold at some craft shops?
They are the right size for holding micro guides onto small diameter blanks.
Same idea as alligator clip but wooden so won't scratch the blank, and has a small semi-circular cutout on each jaw which aids it in sitting nicely on the blank.

Hi Col,
Best wishes for a great SEARBS meet. Hope the weather is kind and you get a good turnout.
The recent SEQ RBW was great. Lots of info shared and lots of support from everyone involved, including great giveaways from sponsors such as Tom Kirkman - Rod Maker Magazine, American Tackle, Cork 4U and other local sponsors. Mark Newcombe gave me a cast of one of his MicroWave guide rods.

Hi,
I'm making some wooden hand wrappers and am having trouble with the thread tension device. The thread spool is sitting on a threaded rod. After the spool is a metal washer, then a spring, then another metal washer, then a wingnut. I tighten the wingnut to set the thread tension. As I pull thread off the spool the washers & spring rotate, causing the wingnut to rotate, which then tightens

To me the best thing about these meets is seeing others doing even the simple stuff. It's amazing what tricks you can pick up from watching somebody at work. For example, At a Sydney Rodbuilders meet once we had

G'day,
We are holding a rod building weekend at Mount Cotton (South East Queensland, Australia) on 27 & 28th of July. It will be a mix of general rod building, as well as a number of organised demos covering things such as thread art, decals, and photography. It is also a great way of making new contacts & friends.
Numbers are limited so mail me if you would like to find out more.

If I hold Madeira Polyneon between my fingers and pull, it snaps easily. Not so with ProWrap. I guess once you are used to using Madeira then you would learn how to handle it.
