Anyone have any recs on guides for an NFC MB664 medium fast? This will be mostly for bass and light saltwater. I've got a leftover set of CRB medium casting guides but they seem a little big for this application. Any thoughts? Thanks. Gary.

I just built on a classic 6wt and it is my favorite rod. I sold my production 6wt after a day of casting it. I'm switching over the rest to either the classic or the gama beta. I really like fast action rods. Either way I highly recommend them. Gary

I really want to use this reel seat. I just looked up the diameters. Guess I missed it. They hand.le is .795 and the OD on the reel seat is .864

Thanks. The cutout is so thin I'm afraid I'll damage the CF. Is that possible?

Building a 5wt with carbon fiber grips. I bought the CFX CF grip from mudhole. The reel seat is slightly larger than the cutout. Any suggestions? The CF comes right to the edge of the cutout so I'm not sure reaming it out is an option. Thanks. Gary.

I've been using the titanium guides although I don't believe the tip top is.

Thanks for all the help. Roger do you just buy a threaded rod at any hardware store? Jeff and Norm, I will explore those options. I appreciate the help. Micheal, I shot you an email. Thanks.

Getting ready to make my first cork handle and had a couple questions. Can I glue up the rings on the turning mandrel? I know it has to be waxed to avoid sticking. Does it need to be clamped? Are there any tricks to clamping while on the mandrel? I see these clamps that go in the blank. I don't plan to turn them while on the blank. I will remove and ream them as necessary. Thanks. Gary

I use tip top glue. It's actually a moot point. The recoil large tip top doesn't size small enough for the 5wt.

I'll check. The rod I've built so far the tip top isn't proportional. I'm using the recoil titanium and they come in 3 sizes.

Thanks John. I'm new to building and really want sure where to start so I was concentrating on the rod he asked for. I would know what did to start with to cut down. I'm really just looking for a good blank rec.

The RS is rated for a higher lure weight so that may be why?

Had a friend ask for a 7'2 it 7'4 heavy fast rod. Only found two blanks that for that description. The Rain shadow REVC72H-SB and the MHX NMB874-MHX. It's a little outside of my wheelhouse. Any recommendations between the two or any other brand? Thanks. Gary

I completed my first coat on a fly rod. I used a razor blade to cut out a few imperfections and tag ends. Should I wipe down the epoxy before my second coat just to make sure there aren't fingerprints or contaminates? I also need to apply my decal. If so, what should I use? Rubbing alcohol? Thanks. Gary

I use denatured alcohol with real bushes. Have been very pleased with the results. I'm an amateur but the difference has been dramatic over the first couple I did with disposable.

I ended up with the Alps machine. Honestly, to me even if I hand wrap it's so much nicer than the CRB hand wrapper. All in for under $400. Seems like a small investment for a lifetime machine even if I only build for myself and friends. Thanks for all the recs.

Thanks. I always give it 24 hours but have been leaving it in the dryer for 12 hours which seems overkill.
