Justin I fish a lot of tournaments at night and have used both glow in the dark threads and glow pigments. both work with descent results. but with short lived glowing Have experienced much better results by using glow in the pigments over glow in the dark threads. The glow lasts much longer. As the second Justin mentioned use a lot of a high quality pigment. Have not done any marbling

Tony I have not built a double sided rod -casting/spinning But I did build a double sided rod, all casting about 8 years ago, guides all on top verses a spiral wrapped guide train to demonstrate how much further the spiral would cast opposed to an all on top guided train. (link posted below). The result was that all the extra weight hindered to rods over all performance. Based on that I w

With 2 exceptions, I have been building/using spiral wrapped bait casting rods for all things bass fishing since 1979, and have yet to see a technique where they do not excel, tip up or tip down one was a show rod for Bill Batson, have also build him a few spiral wrapped rods, one of which he has stated repeatedly if his favorite rod. the other don't even remember why, but have not made t

my experience has been the same as Norm's the only time I've worked with recoil guides is being asked to remove them. Your sales man's hype. I would chalk up to effective marketing lies. Been fishing braided lines with inserts for more years then I can remember, and have never had to worry about braid or knot's knocking them out.

yes it will work. Bill Stevens built the original rods done that way. They held up to being tortured and held better then guides that were wrapped. tore the guides up before it would pull them loose To the best of my memory, He did not use any other adhesive to hold guides in place. adding another adhesive would detract from the strength of the permaglos the original article was in Ro

I do simular to what daves does, except I use orange fly line. tape it to the mold line on the reel seat (which is always top dead center), and keep a fly tying vise mounted at the other end of rod table. while rod is still locked in wrapping vise I pull line tight and lock it down in fly vise so is held straight from tension. Then alighn the guides to the fly line. Also use the line for stat

I practise flipping/pitching all winter long in the yard, bushes, trees, fence post, pine cones, doesn't matter at what, anything that presents a target. It keeps my skill set in tune for when spring flipping fishing weather returns. and it also keeps the neighbors away from the crazy man waving a stick around in his yard.

my heart is broke! I truly loved Bill. I was saddened when he stepped back from rod building, We spent days and weeks communicating, some times every day of the week about Micro guides and many other aspects of rod building. Bill did not like to boast of his accomplishments or intelligence, preferring to be thought of as (in his words) "a dumb ass Coon ass Cajun". but I would like

Roger that's part of the point I was making. If you elimination chucking time in the drill. Probably looking at less then a minute a handle. Lots of labor savings, especially if doing introduction work. Personally I run two drill presses, and (when needed) have another reamer set up in a lath I prefer to keep things stationary and two hands free to work with.

I guess it depends on what your time is worth here we have a reamer that takes longer to tighten in the drill then it does to ream the cork, and yet the whole process include tightening all four sizes into the the drill takes less then 2 minutes 12 seconds that's a lot of time saved! would not take long for it to pay for itself

Lance I use both, depending on what the rod is being used for for. Med light - heavy- I often use single ft strippers For lighter worm set ups (finesse worms, sinko’s, creature baits, ext.), I will still use single ft strippers But if I am building/using the rod for tip up techniques heavier techniques, (heavier worms, jigs ect.), flipping, pitching, punching rods. I will go with

Mark ; If you would like to see some examples of CF handles and grips, go to the photo page and look around. There are thousands of examples of it's use in rod building. If you want to save some time. Look up "mike Peterson's" posts. He has been building them since 2008 and has posted many pictures for our viewing. He also has several good pics on his web site But his work is just

Do they generally weigh less? YES Are they as comfortable? IN MY OPINION YES As long lasting? WILL LAST LONGER Graphite is absolutely the best product to allow an angler to " feel" vibrations from the bait, feel what is going on at the other end of the line. Is easier to tell what your bait is doing or going through/running through,( when it hits a rock, comes through vegetation,
