The answer is yes, I do it on all the waterslide decals is use. However I find I'm using far less than before, as the new style peel and stick work so well.

epoxy works fine, but you ned to let the decal dry throughly before applying epoxy
I normally wait 24-48 hours before first application

Do you guys apply the decals (waterslide) directly on the blank, or do you coat the blank with finish first?

I almost always apply a thin coat of epoxy first, especially on matte blanks, as the decal will appear cloudy otherwise. You can get away with no undercoat on gloss painted blanks, but be sure to clean the surface first.

I often print a negative waterslide decal applied over metallic thread. No epoxy over the thread layer.

When I apply a positive decal it is always over a gloss blank or a thin layer of epoxy.

I've got gloss blanks so I should be good to go. Thanks
