For those of you who have built on this blank, what is your impression of it overall? I have had a hankering to build kind of an all purpose rod. Something I can Bass/Shad fish with while having a use beyond that. Possibly small stream Steelhead or general purpose large trout rod.

Are all tip top glues equal? I have 1 rod that has had the tip top re glued about 4 times.....fits on the blank just fine.....maybe I am not getting the glue hot enough, or being quick enough.

Oh yea I love that reel seat. Fits my hand well and feels like an extention of the blank. I wasn't aware that the measurements were taken from the Front of the seat. Good information for my next build.

IIRC after speaking with thr Gal at Utmost and doing the install on rod recently, the insert on the reelseat makes the fitment a bit more difficult....I would not buy a size smaller on that one....just make sure you are measuring roughly where the cutout would be.

I haven't seen many rods plugged with things...maybe it is to keep grit, dirt, water from getting inside the tube?

Never had an issue contacting Lamiglas.....Their emails are slow response, but why not try calling? Or, if you are near by, try stopping by? What info are you trying to get?

Thank you for the info....I bought this blank mainly for throwing small jigs on the Jetties and dragging prawn spinners for Spring Chinook. 8 ft is about perfect for both and the blank seems to have good attributes for both.

How hard would it be to ream out a size 18 reel seat a bit? What kind of tool would do the cleanest job?

Hello, I have a BS806 blank and I cannot find a reelseal that Iike....Looks like it will require an 18 or 19 reelseat and was hoping to find an exposed blank or very minimal split reelseat but no dice. Anyone here built one of these rods? What did you use?

I appreciate the explanation Norm. I found a set of CRB LZR guides in my stash that I will mock up...I've always done the KR Concept so these will be a bit of a challenge. If they work I'll stay with them. If not, I will put in an order for some KL-H guides (I've used them on other rods with great success) and return or repurpus these.

Norm, I am using the Minima (M3's) I just didn't have the part # off the top of my head....I guess they would be the m3 20, 12, 6. I honestly tempted to swap these with thr M4's in 20 10 6. You think that the M3's would work if I changed either the first stripper to a 25 or the 12 to a 10?

Anyone have an idea on what the height difference is between a 12 h and 10h fuji guide? I'm thinking that using the 12 might be the cause of my issues.

Hi, I'm working on a build for myself using a Black Hole Suzuki Special 10' blank and KR Concept layout using Pac Bay Minima high Frame guides.....I believe the reduction train is a 20 12 6H and 6 runners. I have 2 issues, 1 I think the last reduction guide isn't quite right....I can't get the bullseye with out some pretty ridiculous spacing between the second and third guide...maybe it is just

Dan, I bit the bullet and purchased the Su1087f. Spoke with mudhole and the blank seems to be just about right. Super light as well. I guess the SA1086F wasn't meant as a casting rod, but more of a boat rod. Going to build it using the KR Concept using a 20H 10H 5.5m reduction with 5.5s out to the tip and pair it with a Spinfisher 3000

Spencer, I just received the NFC blank in the mail and it will do for smaller swell. Has anyone had hands on the SU1087F and SA 1086f from MHX? They look very similar but there is a $40 price tag difference. How do they compare to each other?

Sounds like a good rod, but we have to cast pretty far. The length is very beneficial. What is the weight on that blank?

All, I'm looking for a 10-11 foot blank to make a surf Perch Rod. I have a few already, but am obsessed and want to build one for myself. It needs to be able to cast 2-3 ounces, be fairly light weight (upper body was crushed badly and shoulders/neck are in rough shape). I generally fish flat beaches and need to cast fairly far. I preemptively purchased an NFC SA 1064 as it was 60% off and could

I have a 9 foot XST 10-17. Nice blank and a better value than an NFC IMHO.

So I have not installed it yet, but I went ahead and ordered/received the American Tackle G2 grips (adjustable length casting grip). Very different from my CFX grips....seem to be the same ones used on the high end Okuma Rods. Only issue I forsee will be installing the arbors. They only come with 1 pre installed arbor and a tape arbor is recommended for the front part of the lower grip. I dont kn

Do you have pictures? Their website is not exactly informative on those things and I don't know what I will need for trim pieces or do I know what reel seat will work.
