Wow that is helpful. The MB is def stiff, but rated fairly low. I'll keep that DS in mind as it would be nice for thr small bass that I normally catch.

Targeting Small Mouths in big rivers, fishing near bank from boat and foot. I usually use worm/Ned type jig heads with small soft plastics.

I'm not trying to get crazy, I just don't like the XRAY MB 733 thst I built. It's very stiff and I'm not too comfortable with it. I have one of the UC DHX ultralight blanks thst I might try out, it seems it could be a bit softer and I purchased a Kast King Zephyr to see if the reel size would be acceptable.

Yes apologies. I'm specifically looking at their all purpose blanks. I don't know how to edit the title.

Anyone have experience with these blanks? I'm considering building a BFS rod and can't dig up any objective information on this line of blanks.

Double edge blades are meant for Shaving for thr most part. Try shaving with a single edge blade. Feather blades are exceptionally sharp compared to other double edge blades.

I've tried the bands....ended up sticking with bait elastic.

I was up at Lami over the summer...seems they too have 1 piece rods left...they just don't advertise them. But they were so short staffed and out of finis material, that they couldn't make blanks for sale. I have the Suzuki Special 10 ft. Good rod for stuff under 2 ounces.

Lami has the blanks for Carbon surf for sale.....good luck finding anything else.

I bought some of these and personally found then to be a waste. Just use the rubberized bait thread. It holds guides well in place and allows some movement....plus it is quite a bit cheaper. I can do several rods per a roll, no matter the rod diameter.

Aleks,
I understand that, but realistically what can they handle? My concern is the utter lack of internet speak on NFC surf blanks. I have an Xray Bass rod as well as an St905 HM, I love them both. The difference is they both are in high use and well documented on the internet. If I could somehow arrange an in person visit (I'm in Portland) I would consider it, but I don't want to take a stab

75. Plunking blanks
All,
Due to lack of ability to handle blanks prior to purchase, I have been forced to buy several and compare. I ended up with a Breakaway GDX, Rod Geeks 12 ft 6-16, CCP 13 ft 3-6 (with intent to trim) and Talon B174...11 ft 9, 8-16. These blanks are all completely different and I am stumped. I need a blank for fishing Spring Chinook and possibly Fall Chinook on the Columbia River around Bonnevi

Steve,
I figured out what I was trying to say about the Seeker. The tip/top 3rd is soft, it transitions a bit until half way, then locks up fairly solidly. The XCC both powers are way more moderate.

I def contradicted myself. If you live in the Portland area, I have the 2 power XCC blank, 3 power button rod and the Seeker blank you can tug on to if that would fit the bill.

I'm in Oregon as well. The Seeker blank would work, but I feel like you would be undergunned for moderate sized Coastal Chinook. It has a ton of backbone. But you are fishing smaller water. The XCC 93 3 has a ton of balls and will whoop a big fish....Maybe a 2 power would be a better choice.

I have a Seeker S Glass BS806 blank. Would work well. Or you could look for a Lamiglas xcc plug blank.

I have the 6-16 and it feels like I can throw a brick with it. Granted I don't 'power cast' ....just let the rod do fhe work.

I've tried to contact Talon....directed to Anglers West. It was good to handle the built rods, but I wish I could get an answer from Talon directly. Thrasher doesn't have a blank that fits the bill (at least off their specs). I received the Rod Geeks blank. It is heavy duty, would like something lighter powered, but can make this one work.

Not sure there is a blank in that line thst will handle the casting weight. Anyone have info on Talon? Looks like a few of their blanks can handle it or are at least rated for it.

I would assume that they are URBs....would be targeting fish going over Bonneville. Would hitting Oak Tree, Warren Dale and the likes in the lower Gorge area.

Spencer, I doubt they are necessary at all. But it seems plunking blanks are falling out of favor on the West Coast and the East Coasters are into power casting, thus think only broomstick can do the job.

I'm looking for blanks. I don't want to fish Uguly Sticks and can build my own rods. Plus I already have hand me downs that can handle Willy plunking and a 1 piece Fenwick for Bonne......but don't want to haul around a 1 piece 13 ft rod.

All,
I'm looking to build a Plunking rod for Columbia River Chinook...Fall and Spring. I keep trying to get a hold of Lami, looking at Carolina Castpro and Rodgeeks. What are my other options and are blanks rated to 20 ounces really necessary?

Ok. I have the pictures as well as their old address and phone numbers. Don't know how to post it though.

There is one blank know of. But thr members of this board would have to dig deep to find a record of it. The manufacturer was Clearwater Products, located somewhere in thr Pacific Northwest (Maybe southern BC). He made some pretty amazing blanks. One of them was a composite drift rod. Either 10'6" or 11'6" real soft tip to detect bites, but backbone that would allow you to horse BIG Chi
