Maybe a fly blank? Otherwise all I can think of are boat blanks...maybe the lightest power XCC Lamiglas blank...but those are fairly powerful.

I built on an NFC HM Steelhead blank. Great blank and despite the customer service woes, at least they picked up the phone. Don't know what is going on with Lami, but it sounds like they are operating on a super conservative budget.

Do they even exist anymore? I've called several times a day, left emails, facebook messages, posts on their site and voice mails. Unable to get any response for near 2 months. Their website has fewer and fewer products in stock. Anyone had luck getting in touch?

I dont know about the ML....I was told by someone at Batson that it is too much rod for my use. And I don't have the 931. I built a 933 and have a 932 blank that I've wanted to build for Coho plugging. The 932 is way too much rod for what you want. 931 is used for back trolling plugs for Summer Steelhead. The XCC plug rods have a much faster tip though they bend into the handle if very loaded. W

I might be able to swing it. You think the 2-4 would fit the bill? What about the 1-3?

I built a rod for fishing for American Shad in heavy current on the RDR710L. Super super soft tip but had a ton of backbone....I think it would be a great rod for trolling small plugs. It handles 3-5 pound Shad with 5 ounces of sinker in heavy current no problem. Or you could look at the Lamiglas XCC plug rods. The XCC 93 1 power should be ok.

So has no one had hands on a GSB AND say a Vapor Trail to compare? Are there any builders in the Willamette valley that have had a chance to compare the 2?

What I'm fishing for is very Similar to Pomp, though their mouths don't seem to be too soft. Same types of rigs too, we just hold the rods (generally while wading as the beaches are very flat). I've tried too many different Salmon rods and a few different surf rods. Most everything off the shelf is not setup to my liking, so I started building my own. We don't have blank dealers nearby though and

How is the action/recovery/power compared the a Lami GSB? I've looked at these blanks, but I have nothing to judge them against.

Back bounce blanks are also sold as heavy Swimbait blanks. Too short really. Hot Shot/plug blanks are generally much softer. Not designed for casting heavy stuff. The closest Salmon blank to a surf rod is a heavy trolling rod. But they are slow and floppy. I started with a Okuma SST 1-8 Salmon Herring rod. That thing would fold in half before beginning its recovery and moving the gear forward. Pl

Also for an adequate West Coast Reference. The Lami GSB 120 M is used by Lamiglas employees to fish for Keeper to Oversized Sturgeon, plunking with 10-16 ounces of lead plus small baits. These fish regularly reach 100-150 pounds. Where as East Coast Surf Casters use this blank for throwing 3 ounce plugs to 40 pound fish.

Russell, I wish I could find a Salmon Float/Drift rod thst could ham the pressure. But those rods are designed with soft tips and good backbone down low. Not good for tossing heavier weights. The Suzuki is a great rod, but needs a bit more power in the mid and lower section. A longer version of the 9 footer ( it is the stronger of the 2) would be perfect.

CTS is a bit out of my price range haha....they do certainly sound nice though. I was looking for something right around the $200-250 mark.

Hello, I am looking for a 10' Surf blank that is slightly lower in power with a slightly softer/faster tip than a GSB1201L. As I don't understand CCS (nor do many companies list that data as far as I can tell) and I cant physically handle these blanks, all I can do is compare tapers and ask. I'm open to all suggestions as long as they could potentially be SLIGHTLY less power or have a tip that i

I know this is older. But after building the SU1087F from MHX, I build a rod on the Black Hole Suzuki Special. SUPER light weight, very sensitive and great for throwing 1-3 ounces (though I lob 4 ounces for surf perch with it.....pretty sure it's destined to blow up if I continue to do so). I have the 10 footer which is the lower power of the 2. Fully built, it is 195 Grams..6.878 ounces. Stupid

Spencer, In your opinion, with an RX6 Spin Bass blank (say a 3 power) have a softer tip, less back bone or both compared to a 4 power Mag Bass blank? I only ask as Bass fishing isn't my thing and I can't imagine people are using the same thing for 2-4 pound Smallies over here as they are in the Mid West for Small Mouth and Largies.

Michael, what is the blank color on the SB841? I'm a bit curious on action as well. I recently purchased an XRAY blank from NFC as a Bass/multipurpose blank for myself. Rated 6-10 it is a pool cue compared to any of my Salmon/Steelhead rods.....super fast and super responsive. I would expect an RX6 blank to be slower but will it be noticeable?

I see get bit has a nice selection of SP and Rev CB blanks on deep discount. I believe the SB blanks are popping rods, so will be more moderate. But qhat are the CB blanks? They even have an RX7 ISJ blank for 63ish.

Looking to possibly build a rod for a friend. Primarily a Senko rod, using 4-6 inch worms with up to 1/4 ounce in additional weight. Built as spinning and fishing rocky shorelines of the Columbia river for Smallmouth. Would like to keep it around 50 dollars or less for the blank. What would you all suggest?
