The timing thing is partly why I like the idea of glass. I bought a 5 ft 6 inch Okuma Celilo...figured 30 bucks wouldn't kill me. Immediately cut stock guides off and put a hodgepodge of Fuji single foot casting guides, spiral wrapped and went to fish the Deschutes at a few parks on thr north side of Bend. The rod was on the stiff side and pitching while peaking out of bushes was difficult. I us

I have an old Fenwick SP601 blank that my grandfather started building decades ago. But it needs a new ferrule, that is beyond my skill. Still on the long side, but it seems to be in the ball park, power wise. I have the light powered one for Bass. I'm going to take it out and see how it handles trout. I think it may have a bit too much power though.

Hello, I'm looking to build a rod for brushy stream trout fishing (mostly stocked Bows). Would like to cut something down to about 4'10" and would like Glass. This will be for throwing small lures ( 1/20th-1/8th). I've eyeballing the Jannsnetcraft Eglass as well as the Batson SPG blanks. Which or these do you think would be the most suitable? Are their other budget glass options? I'm al

Update on this rod. I ended up buying a JDM SLX BFS reel...very affordable considering the current exchange rate. Have been bass fishing as much as I can with the setup, mostly Ned rigs with a 1/16th ounce jig + 2.5 inch Zman plastic and it absolutely bombs those out of the box. Took it out a few minutes ago to see if it will be enough to take to Bend and do some Trout fishing. Nearly emptied the

For those of you that have handled this blank, what are your thoughts on cutting it?

Yea, If I had a decent reel, this thing would probably throw sub 4 grams. But it is killer with little Ned rigs and my Kast King Zephyr. Def has some serious backbone for how light the tip is. NFC APFG742 or maybe even the 744. I just wrapped the 710, super soft tip, but significant back bone...

Ended up going with the 1 power All Purpas Fast Glass. Tied casting, it is a nice casting rod for 4-5 gram Ned's. Reminds me more of a light drift rod, than a bass rod. But will do well for what I want.

Yea, I was told the same with Batson CF casting grips (same as CFX) and Fuji split casting seat. OD to OD has maybe 3/16ths of an inch difference. The Seaguide reel seat appears to fit over something, but I cannot tell if it is over their own carbon tube or what.

Is the Seaguide HSC SCMSHSC reelseat mount over the rear grip? And does anyone know if it will work with NFC's soft touch rear casting grip?

That's a drop in a bucket compared to thr Sportsman Shows. 25 dollar tickets, 25 to park + waiting for a bus to ferry you to thr spot. Just wish these events could be closer to home.

I have the 733 and an older Daiwa Aird 100hla..I can barely cast a 1/16th ounce Jighead with a 3 inch Keitec. I don't know that I could do it with a 664.

All, What would the better blank be for small weightless plastics?? I dont have CCS numbers for the MB or the APFG, if one has them please chime in. The P700 seems a bit light, would 1/8th ounce overpower it? The MB seems like it has a bit more power to it? But it's hard to compare. P700 X RAY MB 661 - SM DS 721 X RAY APFG 742

I did what I could to measure the UC 66lxf. 532 grams to bend the blank tip down 26 inches (1/3rd of the blank length). I feel like that is not correct.

Would the 5.7 ERN be about 1800 grains/117 grams? If so, thst is much too light for me. I'm looking for something around 300 grams IP.

Threw the Zepher with 6 lb co polymer on the MB 733. 1/10 ounce jig can cast, but feels impossible to load the rod tip.

Wow that is helpful. The MB is def stiff, but rated fairly low. I'll keep that DS in mind as it would be nice for thr small bass that I normally catch.
