Thank you so much Roger for your recommendations. The IMMP70UL blank was one of the ones I was looking at but with a 7’-0”, 1/32 to 3/16 oz lure ratting I thought it might be a little heavier than I was looking for. I could also be wrong. This rod won’t be used with anything heavier than 1/16 oz lure. 1/80 oz to 1/32 oz 99% of the time.

Do you have any plans to just sell the stripper guide alone and not in a set?

I need some help finding a blank at is 7’ to 8’-6”, one piece that can cast a 1/64 oz jig. I want to keep my options open but 7’-6” to 7’-10” would be the perfect length. I have tried some rods in the past that claimed to be able to cast a 1/64 oz jig but after the cast the rod would wobble around so much I lost the distance I was looking for. This rod would be mainly used for crappies and som

I really wish RodGeeks offered St. Croix full line of blanks. I have 6 St. Croix rods that I would like to build into my own style but can’t get the blank. I also miss when St. Croix sold blanks you could look up the rod (what technique the blank was design for) off their catalog and cross reference it. Than buy the blank.

I enjoy doing decorative wraps. It does take some time but the rod looks like a piece of art work when I am done. I will spend less time on the wrap than the amount of time I will use the rod the first week on the water. So for me it is worth it.

The rod blanks just come in. The RX6 SP942 feels like a great blank for this application. But the immortal IMMWS76ML feels even better. This blank is awesome. Wish I would have gone with both of them in the IMMWS76ML blank. But I don’t think my wife would know that difference. Thank you everyone for the help. I will let you know what I think after I get some time on the water with them.

Bob, I would be using minnows and leeches still fishing. Sometimes from shore or the river bank.

I have done a lot of looking on this site for suggestions on a 7’ to 8’ one-piece blank to use for a walleye slip bobber rod. This will be the sole purpose of this rod. Most of the older post recommended blanks that are no longer available. (they were from 2012 or older) So I thought I would ask again to see if there is something new. I saw there were many comments about using hot shot or pop

I am making my first open water rod and bought an Elliott E-C73MH-F and requested the recommend guide sizes and locations. That was skipped with my order and was wondering if anyone here had that information. I would like to make an order for guides but am not sure what I need since this is my first open water rod.

43. MN rod blanks
I have been making ice rods for a number of years now and have been getting request for open water rods. I just need help narrowing down some blanks. I was hoping you will be willing to share your experiences and what blanks you use for a dedicated purpose (for walleye or bass).
