Does 'exposure' need to be the same for the test results to be comparable? eg, do you then also need to measure and control lumens at the sample under test, or something like that? lol

PSI describes it as a plastic, as follows
I bored it out for a foam arbor to lighten it up, while still leaving room for shaping, and I think the result will be ok for me weight wise. I guess I'll go get some 600 grit and see if that cleans it up. Not recommending it, not even suggesting it, just trying to figure it out.

I noticed PSI had blanks of bowling ball material sized at 1" round and 7" long, perfect I thought for a handle. I tried their crimson pearl, bored it , cut it and shaped it to my liking, but its not polishing with 400 grit which is the finest I have at the moment. Anyone have experience with this stuff? If I get some 600 grit will that do, or do I need to get even finer grit?

337. Re: guide question
Al - I banded BLAG's on a spinning rod once but ended up going for something higher after not getting the placement/test results I wanted. It might have just been me, or the reel I was using. BLAG's on casting rods, on the other hand, work out great for me.

One of my favourite rods is one i painted and clear coated with kamelon (changes color from different directions) auto paint. But then I also love working with acrylic marbling (works just fine for me), so can't be right. Not a suggestion, not a recommendation, just a VOC.

339. Fuji Alconite
So the fuji site lists the alconite as "7% lighter than standard SiC Rings".
What are the better characteristics of the SiC rings? Strength? Less friction?

What a great gift/idea they had. Although I almost threw away the discount card (not knowing at 1st that it was a discount card) that was attached to the packaging for the spatula's they handed out at the reception, I'm sure to use it now and buy some stuff from them.

I noticed Stan McLean recently posted a couple of pictures of an awesome setup with texillium on a split grip that might help answer your questions. Hope this helps.

344. Cork Cutting Jig
Anyone know where to get the aluminum jig Mike Barkley used at Charlotte to make thinner rings (not the checkerboard/diamond jig)?
I thought it was at the Custom Tackle booth, but there were none left shortly after Mikes seminar and I dont see it on the Custom Tackle Supply web site...I might have mistaken the vendor.

I was watching a fishing show yesterday where a guy said that he likes "a medium action rod with a soft tip", I think he said for pitching. I'm not really sure how/what he meant by a medium action with softer tip? But from the above discussion will extra, decorative, wrap on the top guides or tip-top 'soften' the tip?

I feel guilty about this sometimes since they arent a board sponsor, and while I'm going to Charlotte to among other things find alternatives to the blanks I currently use, I'm a bit partial to the Cabela's fish eagle II casting blanks 'cause thats all I've chanced upon so far for that kinda money - I can afford them AND they do what I want with at price AND style that I cant find a match for...

Do a web search on clean rooms, there's a lot of useful info. I work in class 10000 and class 1000 rooms daily. Email me if I can be of help. A lot of fancy equip is not always required, just a little know-how on air flow might help with some situations.

355. Re: Direct Mail
Hi Tom - In addition to the direct hits, there might be something to be said about colateral hits as well. For instance, I've forwarded the link to the Charlotte site to 12 fishermen that I work with and 2 others that build rods but who do not subscribe to RM nor frequent the RBO web site - some visited the site and expressed interest in Charlotte ...they were not on your direct mailing this go a

That looks nice. I'd like to try the Texalium's - do you assemble these like tenesee handles I've seen discussed before? How are they done? Is this discussed somewhere, in one of the RM mags somewhere maybe? The only "tube" type handles I've built with so far are the matrix verde units, but those all had the full handle/kit that has the tube attached over a combined hybrid reel seat/ha
