Well i'm not the most experienced but in regards to alternative methods and alternative materials to wrap guides that topic has been discussed for years and quite a detailed one happened just a few weeks ago actually . Not only is nylon thread strong enough most builders prefer to wrap with size A or B . If you have trouble seeing what you're doing wear readers and only work with plenty of ligh

Sonny , i can tell you with 100% certainty that dealing with Herb is a pleasure , i have bought a handful of CTS blanks from him and everything was super smooth with great communication , he won't steer you wrong and will set you up with exactly what you want.

If spey casting is two handed then i suppose thats what he means but he has made it clear that he plans to use both hands to allow longer casts , whether it's the exact "Proper" terminology i don't think he cares one way or the other . The below takes you to what he's asking about , click on the "Action" options.

St.Croix no longer deals with blanks , they refer all blank related stuff to Rodgeeks . Last year St.Croix was still selling blanks , not so anymore except certain models through Rodgeeks . RodGeeks won't carry all of St. Croixs blanks but most are close matches with the same exact mandrels and material , so if you have a model Rodgeeks doesn't offer it will have to come from Croix but contact

Alps stuff is always top shelf imo so i would choose the ALPS but the RBS looks very good also especially the brand new stuff, ( Why you're very unlikely to here much feedback) that recently came out but if it was noticeably cheaper i might take a gamble.

You would certainly think but when i read the below it gave me the impression that his vision wasn't good enough to see what he was doing . I didn't want to bring up the fact that he gave everything away as why make him feel worse if something can be done to help him. " I realized there was something wrong with my work on the rods and my vision and had to leave everything where it was&qu

Only thing i can think of is shrink wrapping over the piece , Mudhole sells shrink in a wide variety of colors and diameters , you would only need a short piece . I sometimes use Plasti Dip liquid rubber for stuff like this as well , you can pour it on , dip it , brush it on or spray it on . As you mentioned sanding isn't a bad idea either.

" I realized there was something wrong with my work on the rods and my vision and had to leave everything where it was" Hopefully it's just your vision because thats something that in many cases can be corrected but i don't know the severity , i too had major issues with my vision at one point but i now manage to get by . Usually after one door closes a new one opens up so here'

I assume you bought the blank through Rodgeeks which now carry the SCV St. Croix blanks so if thats the case i would contact Rodgeeks as they're the ones who would send out a replacement . If you bought it through St. Croix in the past then St. Croix would be the ones to contact.

Yeah, it looks like it got him not only a bunch of great blank choices to choose from that fit exactly what he's looking to do but he also got very helpful info about performance expectations and why it's wise to not overspend and end up being disappointed if your expectations aren't reasonable . Gerard also asked the below question: "What would you recommend for guides? I’ve been usi

Well , if you can't find them many love the Pacific Bay Minima guides for light freshwater setups , they offer high frame guides similar to Fuji's KR concept guides .

Anthony Unger: "A question about the KR system.. From what i understand, it was designed primarily for light line and braid.. (If im wrong correct me please) what is the line rating limit that starts to hinder performance? Or hasnt it been found yet" Anthony the KR concept is great as you said and you're correct about it tending to be geared for lighter lines especially braid

Well , i didn't see it on here but i have seen people say it elsewhere , my $19.99 Shakespeare landed a 42 pound striper whats the biggest fish your $200.00 rod landed i bet not even a 10 pounder , no joke . I was convinced i was hallucinating after i heard that . Anyway i took your post the wrong way , my apologies.

A ton of suggestions have already been provided Anthony , including the rainshadows , now when you come across a post that has a few responses but isn't getting any more responses that usually indicates the info already provided is very very good and there's really nothing else to add . On another note, discussing performance expectations based on price is extremely helpful information to a

I understand you're, in the overwhelming majority of cases referring to fly rods when commenting but in this particular thread the topic was not about fly rods at all thats why i responded to your comment which was " Regardless of the product there is little correlation between the cost of a product and its performance" . Now , i do agree with your comment below to an extent :

I believe Don means MHX since those are the Mudhole brand NOT HMX which is a Fenwick thing but anyway MHX blanks are offered in a mind boggling amount of options and ratings , they have the super affordable all the way up to top shelf offerings used by a variety of pro anglers engaged in big money tournaments . It appears to me that Mudhole's house brand has more application specific blanks th

Best to be certain about the reel and line before choosing guides , guide type , height and sizing will be based on those first two important questions. When you aren't even sure whether a conventional or spinner will be used guide choice is impossible.

"The answer is simple - contact NFC and tell them what happened" If it was that simple everything would be great but thats actually the hardest part , having them respond to customer inquires and messages but there's no other option so you just got to keep trying .

The choice of blanks out there available for this type of fishing is truly endless , lets clear up that we're talking about striper's not strippers , i know of no blank that works well for strippers . For fishing jetties & bridges i like rods that are medium heavy in power since keeping hooked fish away from rocks & concrete bridge walls with barnacle encrusted pilings is key to landing

Thanks Roger that makes perfect sense . Well we can rule out that he bought a casting set by mistake but with the use of 6 pound braid and how ridiculously forgiving it is a casting set would still probably cast relatively well , not nearly as well as a higher framed spinning set but still workable. All your recommendations are very good ones and should sort out the exact issues , maybe it is

Incomprehensible is the only word to describe this . I think the only thing you can do is continue to do what you have been doing because it's been made very very clear on these boards that there is no way to consistently make contact with them . There are many threads asking about how to contact them and rectify certain issues and unfortunately the mystery continues it seems to be a case of lu
