I agree, but you see the problem is the people who do that NEVER really consider the blank is mediocre, in their mind they are convinced it's a superb blank and for their use

OK then , it seems like you have figured out how to satisfy yourself regarding blank performance and you acknowledge that others may feel very differently than you do . When David said the rod set up with smaller guides performed and felt far more efficient than rods with larger guides and just using a flip cast revealed that. David didn't need to measure anything as i didn't either as the di

What were the "Measurements of inches, feet, yards, ounces, pounds and other physical facts that made you come to the conclusion that TFO's Axiom II was as you called it " Superb" ? No imaginings and feelings allowed of course .

Roger , i think you and George nailed it with the " Not enough sales" comment . I think thats what determines most everything when you come right down to it , if the masses are not familiar with it the likelihood of rods equipped with micro guides selling really well are going to be slim . Many will sell but not to the majority of people who purchase factory built rods, anglers typi

10 pound braid with a 20" or so flouro leader huh , that just so happens to be the exact pound test braid and exact pound test flouro leader that i have used over the last 15 years of inshore fishing , with a KR concept build it's "Out of this world " performance .

"I use to pitch with that have micro guides, pitch so much better than the factory rod I have that has conventionally sized running guides? Pitching doesn't load a rod like a full on cast would. It doesn't genterate the kind of bait speed a full on cast would. It's a fairly low energy cast, yet my micro guide rods pitch further with the same or less effort" That is the direct resul

I was so blown away with size 5.5 runners on my inshore 8 foot rods that i went even smaller on my 11 foot surf rods , a size 5 and i'm so happy i did , passes knots effortlessly and just makes such a huge difference in overall rod responsiveness, feel and efficiency . My strippers of choice are no larger than a size 25 high frame which in double foot only comes in the RV 25 and single foot KL-H

Now wait just a minute Brian , so the rod is not suitable for big stripers but is suitable for Halibut from shore ? I have seen Halibut that would eat a striper for lunch . Whats going on here ?

Hello Geoff, check out my first post not the second. " I prefer blanks from the surf series for my inshore blanks" I have the below model . Actually your new surf blanks do fit what i like for inshore fishing , i would of jumped on the 8 footer if it was available at the Expo two years ago but it was not available yet , i was hoping a higher end Immortal in the 8

I was used to fishing St. Croix blanks for years including Legends, Avids and Tidemaster models but i was convinced by the guys on this forum to try a Rainshadow so i ordered the Immortal inshore popping blank , i ordered the MH version in the 7'6 length and i actually sent it back not because it wasn't a nice blank etc.. it was because it was very very different than what i was used to and i did

I have been thrilled with the performance of the RodGeeks blanks . I prefer blanks from the surf series for my inshore blanks because i find an 8 footer superior to rods in the seven foot to seven and a half foot range especially when distance is needed.

I think you need to reveal what the ratings on your RX 7 blank indicate since that will steer you in the right direction as to what are the best choices with the other stuff . Are you saying the blanks max lure weight is 1.5 ounces ?

Superb , excellent news , how did you determine the superbness , was it the feel ? Just imitating the great & always enjoyable Phil Ewanicki . Carry on Phil , is this a new blank by TFO , if so it shouldn't be too long but if it's been in the lineup for a while i would bet they won't offer it in blank only form.

If members continue to do business with NFC and thats their choice and you need to accept the risk , coming on here posting about issues is what gets old . Regarding this situation it's a "Expect the worst but hope for the best" thing.

I want to make sure Roberts questions are answered so i will attempt to answer a few and move on from whether to wrap ferrules or not . # 1 question : Will using this tiger for ferrule wraps effect the performance of the blank, i.e. stiffen the ferrules noticeably? Tom answered this one already , i prefer two short approx 1/2 inch length wraps instead of one long continuous one but not

After reading so many comments from manufacturers claiming there is absolutely no need for ferrule wraps with their blanks i wasn't sure what to believe and wrapped the ferrules anyway . I received two new blanks a few months ago and decided to call and talk to a few blank designers from some of the top manufacturers in the industry about it . They convinced me not to bother as it will only add

Chuck my friend , i have never seen this happen before so it's not the norm , as to your initial question , i don't think there is a source to load up on flexible winding checks unfortunately, silicone i believe is your best bet , have a good day.

You asked about single foot guides and can they be used , yes, they can be used either the KL s or the KL-H KR concept ones but the double foot KW's are more popular for surf rods . Double foot's are not necessary by any means but people tend to think they are and choose them more often for surf fishing applications . It greatly depends on how much abuse the rod gets and how rough are the con

The one guide that i believe you will need to start with is a KW 30 not the KW 30 L because it's height is ideal although the ring size is larger than i would prefer for braid, even 50 pound braid but the KW 25 isn't tall enough . The 25 ring size is ideal but the height just doesn't work with that BG 5000 spool & how high the reel sits off the blank . Always a tradeoff and Fuji only off

A 12 foot rod would be a much better choice for the BG 6500 but still not ideal as i have a CTS 12 footer that i strapped a 27 ounce spinner on just to check balance and it was still bottom heavy ( Which is better than it being top heavy) but still far from ideal . The 12 footer balanced great with a 24.5 oz reel . A 29 ounce reel will balance very well about two and a half feet up from the but

Never tried the silicone ones but i have tried all Mudhole's black vinyl or rubber ones and they stretch a little but not a lot , eventually decided to not use winding checks at all , anyways the silicone ones are likely to stretch the most.

BG 4500 or 5000 are the reel to choose for a 10 foot medium heavy powered rod , the 5000 holds 360 yards of 50 pound braid weighs much less than the 6500 and will balance brilliantly on the 10 footer the 6500 is a total mismatch . BG4500 5.7:1 43.1" BRAID: 50 pound 270 yards / 22 oz weight BG5000 5.7:1 47.4" BRAID: 50 pound 360 yards / 22.6 ounce weight BG

KT guides are fine for the runners as are KW's for the transition guides but that reel weighs 29+ ounces, thats exceptionally heavy for a surf spinner .

I'm with Roger , sounds like you're using an excessive amount of epoxy , i make sure the rod is level during drying and only need to wipe part of the blank that the inside of the reel seat touched on it's way down the blank before being fitted into position since i coat the inside of the reel seat with a little bit of Pro Paste.
