Lots of people confuse Mudhole's MHX line with HMX no apologies necessary it's an honest oversight . Unfortunately you're correct, i have found the same thing you have when seeking out more information on NFC's LMX designated blanks , user experiences which would give potential buyers a little more familiarity is just not available at this point . Sorry for the bad news .

I don't think there has been any discussions on the NFC LMX version blanks whether fly or otherwise , the discussions have mostly regarded the NFC X RAY series of blanks and the NFC Delta series of blanks and of course comparisons between the HM, IM SM etc... When you say the " Native " series you probably mean the Mudhole MHX line of blanks because HMX is a Fenwick thing. I wo

The below blanks are extremely popular and get rave reviews. I'm sure there are many suitable from a variety of manufacturers but i'm not knowledgeable with those types of blanks but others are so hopefully they will chime in . Good luck in your search.

Unless St. Croix changed their policies they will tell you to send the rod in and they will replace the whole rod before they send you a guide even though sending a guide is so much easier. At least that's how they handled warranty claims in the past. They said and outlined in their previous warranty materials that they're the only ones permitted to make a repair . Sending a guide is the ob

Agree about down sizing the reel , 6000 size spinners weigh between 18 oz - 23.5 oz with some even pushing 24 oz or more. My choice for an 8 footer would be a reel no larger than a size 5000 with drag capabilities of 20 pounds +. On a relatively light 8 foot surf type rod you will be dealing with a very bottom heavy outfit if`using a 6000 size reel regardless of what guides you use. If the

Hopefully you took advantage of Mudhole's FANTASTIC " No minimum & free shipping " sale they had the last two days & bought a replacement reel seat etc... for the new blank . Remove the guides from the broken rod and use on the new one to save $.

If Spencer doesn't chime in which he would have by now if he had info then calling St. Croix direct is going to be your best option. Spencer is incredibly knowledgeable about blanks of all kinds including ones that haven't been made in decades .

I wouldn't bother repairing it , the blank costs $25.00 just wait till you get a replacement .

I don't pier fish but i do fish off the beach close to the piers in the very early morning hours when nobody's around and i catch spanish quite regularly with my surf rods throwing metals . If i was choosing a blank for myself and planned to fish off a pier for spanish i personally like longer blanks absolute minimum would be 7'6 " and my favorites are 8 feet . I find them superior at casti

Inline circle hooks specifically NOT the ones that are kirbed or offset , those often deep hook fish and aren't much better at protecting the fish than any other hook . Inline circle hooks while not quite as high a hookup ratio as kirbed or offset circle hooks are far far better at preventing deep hooked fish . It will either hook in the jaw or miss altogether . You just got to let the hook d

I used Winn Grip overwrap's which i wrapped around the bare blank on the butt and foregrip on both of my surf rods at the beginning of last year and used them the entire season and i had no issues with them tearing off ,falling off or losing any of their incredible tackiness so they worked for me. I never had them repeatedly subjected to coming in and out of rod holders though or placed on any

Varies a great deal between manufacturers , different series of blanks etc... but plenty of rods are still produced using intermediate to higher mod materials in the upper half of the blank, the notion that the highest mod materials are only used in the butt area is not completely accurate . St. Croix likes to advertise that and i actually think it hurts them more than it helps them. As a wh

Sure a rod made of glass using braided line will be more sensitive than a high mod graphite rod using mono but the ultimate would be a high modulus rod preferably with MSI ratings of 57 and above matched with a low stretch braid or fused superline . Fireline is noted as having the least stretch of the various fused lines and braided lines having a stretch factor of between 2 to 4 % while most b

When i started i had A, B and D size threads and did not find the larger sizes any easier to wrap with than size A . The overwhelming majority of builders wrap guides with size A thread so there's probably a good reason why that is but all work in the end.

With a spinner with a 35 mm spool diameter and 6 pound braid just about any setup will work because 6 pound braid is so ridiculously forgiving . My main spinner has a 76 mm spool diameter and i can whip 20 pound braid through a 20 mm stripper with no issues , it throws to the moon . I never use guides any larger than absolutely necessary .

I just don't get why it would be popular , i can't see metal rings replacing ceramics and why would they become popular for guide frame material instead of all the options we already have. 316 (S-6) stainless is exceptionally corrosion resistant and softer than the 306 stainless that was and still is popular . I would like to know where Phil read that solid Rhodium guides are on the way in .
