Links that are only two months old should always work , i would say most links that i have tried in the archives that are considerably older have a 15% chance of still working . Norms "One drive" link has no issues linking to Seth's database.

Links that previously worked but don't work anymore are commonplace all throughout the archives and is the norm on all types of forums unfortunately.

Thats understood Jim , the OP mentioned that he had a 9 footer so since i had a 9 footer and an 8 footer i decided to give him the most recommended reduction train parings , one of my 11 foot surf rods use RV 25 's , an RV 16 and a 10 M as a reduction train and the other 11 footer uses the single foot KL25H , KL12H and a KB 5.5 for the reduction train and that also works exceptionally well .

What Microwave guide kit did you go with is the first question since there are quite a few different versions and did you follow the instructions that came with the kit on the first guides placement ? Don of American tackle says 20" is the typical location of where the largest guide is located from the spools face. With 6 pound braid to not work well something is very very off . If that &q

Great writeup on the CTS website about the history & developments of the company , there's also a big shout out to Rodbuilding.org , well done . " From the beginning CTS established a reputation for creating world class fishing rod blanks and for doing things differently. Through word of mouth and the help of advertising on the very popular rodbuilding.org, news quickly spread among

My 9 foot surf rod uses a KL25H , 12H , 5.5 M to a KB size 5 choke and size 5 KT runners , my 8 foot surf rod uses a KL20H, KL10H and a 5.5 M to a KB 5 choke and KT 5 runners . I find the KL-H guides plenty strong enough UNLESS you know the rod will take a beating . I never have the leader enter the guides, i always keep it on the outside and use braid UP TO 20 pounds .

I was going to comment on how soft and spongy cork can be especially low grade cork but Tom beat me to it . Nobody knows if Don's client had slippage issues due to fish slime so i'm not going to automatically assume that was the case but i think everybody agrees that there are a variety of things that could make any grip super slippery .

Unless knives were sold in ten packs for four bucks and change i wouldn't throw them out either but they're not . Like i said you can do whatever you want but chemically sharpened hooks are NOT meant to be sharpened it's not possible to achieve a better point than how they come from the factory , doesn't mean people listen and follow that advice. An Eagle Claw Trokar is NOT a simple tri point

I am one who ordered the heaviest model in the Immortal line of popping blanks last year and returned it as i found it much much less stout than i had anticipated but i'm in the extreme minority as most love them . As far as hooks , most people do not know how to correctly sharpen hooks and thats because there are so many different types of hook points out there and unless you know what kind of

Proper diameter, shape and surface is extremely subjective imo , i would love to see differences that could be measured with what the Military deem's proper on a handle and what a specific individual deems is the most comfortable and efficient feeling for him/ her . Afterward telling that specific individual that the Military says their personal favorite choice is ergonomically incorrect based

I am going to give Don Campbell's client the benefit of the doubt , i'm not willing to assume that he most likely had some type of slippery substance or fish slime on his hands OR the grip was not ergonomically correct . Now, even though i removed my Winn grips on my rods a few weeks ago to go back to my favorite shrink X grip handles, ( No, not the cheesy X pattern shrink) lets talk about Wi

Donald R Campbell: " He said the grip was so slippery that he almost threw his rod, (with a very pricey Shamano reel), into the water when casting" Every time i see a carbon fiber grip i always think of how ridiculously slippery they look especially glossy coated ones but when i asked others about it on this very forum every single response , no joke, i'm talking EVERY respon

Agree with Phil 100% , line type , diameter, size , properties etc... is critical in determining what would be the best choice. Shockingly, many to this day don't consider it as big of a factor as they should, especially in regards to spinning setups which is not relevant in this particular case but line choice determines pretty much everything , it's among the first things that must be deci

Lynn B: With my setup I only have to turn Threadmaster lite on the dryer for about 2.5-3 hrs. I use both Threadmaster regular and lite and the lite takes a lot longer to cure for me , i really don't see major differences between them to be honest except the considerably longer drying time for the lite , viscosity between the two is a lot closer than i thought it would be. Pro Kote is a

I have an 8 foot inshore rod that has a butt to bottom of reel seat measurement of 17" and i set it at that point for two reasons , the first reason is because it gives me the ability to cast long distances with my right hand just in front of the reel seat pushing while my left arm is pulling from the bottom of the butt , this allows me to cast even a relatively short rod substantial distan

Denham , don't want you to think we forgot about you , i would take advantage of Adam's knowledge because very few have experience fishing for GT's from shore. He wanted to know what rod you have and it's rating , take what he says about the rear grip seriously because it's critical for the application you're building this rod for . It's not just about comfort , the length you choose will have

The Saltiga Dogfight is exactly the type of reel that will be up to the task of dealing with large GT's , it's very appropriately named because a dogfight is exactly what you will be in for . Both you guys have more guts than me , i'm past my prime so no messing with those beasts for me . Adam you mention a 30,20,16,10 guide train and imo thats a great choice even when spooling up with heavy bra

Denham you absolutely sure you want to tangle with GT's from the shoreline lol, man you like to be abused i see. Heavy braid with heavy leaders will be necessary and Roger is right a 40 stripper is overly large even with heavy braid. Hope your reel of choice has the line capacity and drag range necessary to endure what you're planning to do.
