Seems to me that labeling rods as being "Walleye" rods really helps the " Mr. Weekend warrior" type anglers who really have no clue that a Spin/Jig labeled rod is the type to buy for walleye fishing . There are just countless numbers of people who need all the hand holding as they can get when it comes to fishing equipment and even the dumbest or the dumb could figure out th

On another note the best rod blank manufacturers go through the same extensive design testing and retesting as Batson does , they have their own proprietary machinery and blank testing equipment . Batsons head rod blank designer used to be St. Croix's rod blank designer , i may be one of the very few that prefer other blanks to Batsons offerings with the latest i have tried being the 7'6 Immorta

I think the question was already answered correctly by Spencer and Roger , is this really a question that requires an authoritative source to confirm , i wouldn't think so but you never know.

I have been wishing much more detailed info could be found on NFC's site myself but nope , always wondered how all three surf rod blanks they offer are all exactly the same price , the 2-8 oz blank is the exact same price as the 1- 3 oz rated blank both identical lengths, identical listed actions with the exact same material utilized .

Phil , i wasn't referring to you C'MON LOL . You didn't criticize anybody's build , nobody really criticized anybody's build per say but some comments can easily be misinterpreted as being overly critical to the degree that an apology is in order for even mentioning his disappointment . Thats outrageous , if he feels the way he does than thats the way it is, end of story. Nothing i said has

I guess the term " Guides" wasn't descriptive enough , we need to call them Macro instead , since micro guides really are "Micro" in size that term fits pretty well.

Phil , i think when the overwhelming majority of feedback is referencing that you must of built the rod wrong and thats why you feel it's not as sensitive as you had hoped it's not hard to see why somebody would start to think it must be their fault . The thing that turned the tide is when another member said he agrees and also finds it not as sensitive as he had hoped. It's perfectly normal f

"Particularly interested in understanding what the term “walleye” signifies in regards to blanks" Usually jigging or trolling specific blanks , typically medium light power with fast or an X fast action tip and the latter being typically more moderate throughout .

What one persons build is like is not going to be what the next guys preferred build is like , just like one persons favorite blank will be different from the next guys and why one person will insist that a certain rod is the most sensitive while the next guy will say it's the least sensitive . Don't forget about the key word here "SUBJECTIVE" it's all nothing but personal opinion &

I believe the OP was asking about it before deciding to purchase it not that he had a problem with one he already bought but thats just a guess. ALPS stuff is absolute top shelf imo.

Now thats a bold statement by Roger , maybe it's not the build at all which i also think is most likely the case but i believe we're in the minority . Here's something to think about , the ONLY thing that was somewhat disappointing to Brian & Jason was they thought the sensitivity would be a little better BUT everything else was fantastic & the rods are STILL a favorite with them . Michael Danek: " But it is clear the damage has been done by tiny teeth" I noticed and thought the same thing , one of those holes you can clearly see tiny teeth marks that look like clean slices out of the cork , if i had to guess it looks to me like it's from the two front teeth of some type of small rodent but if some say ants no argument from me. Conclusion is, do not

I agree that Brian should take time and fish the rod much more , one time is way too limited , two times should do it , i mean take as much time as you need but drawing definitive conclusions based on the tests you put the rod through in your first post is just not long enough. As i said , i have had a similar experience after one day of fishing a new rod but after i fished the rod a second t

NEVER EVER let the fear of negativity or concern of what others might think alter your true feelings, belief's and especially your words the minute you do that you LOSE big time . People have the right to be disappointed in a blank for any reason they choose and the fact that others fish the same blank and rave about means absolutely nothing , always stand firm on what you say and believe.

I honestly don't believe many rod builders take sensitivity very seriously OR simply think the rod will be sensitive enough and are satisfied with that , far far more builders imo take aesthetics more seriously . All you got to do is spend a few hours browsing through the images , very very few builds have wraps that are just long enough and end very close to where the foot ends for example.

To me Brian and Jason's opinions are just as important as anybody else's , other peoples opinions must be taken into account and respected even if you disagree 100% with them . The fact is that every individual will NOT think exactly like the next guy and if they think a blank IS NOT as sensitive as others they have built on and fished than thats just the way it is , end of story . I'm going

If i was Brian i would be feeling a lot better about things now especially after reading Jason's comments , instead of questioning everything about the build Jasons comments seem to make the build aspect much less of the likely source of the issue, now we wait for Jason to confirm his build is identical to Brian's.

I think they look separated but are not gaps at all in reality , there is an illusion that makes you instantly think separation when you first see it but if you peeled back the finish the threads would show no separation is what i mean . Please agree even if you don't

Maybe i missed it but did Brian say the wraps were coated with just CP , i thought we were way past that point and the rod was completely finished . Anyway , i feel that Brian should at least fish it again and this time really test things out , whether he chooses to fish it for the entire season is up to him it really depends on how astute and familiar he is with his rods and what he deems acce

Well thats what i thought because i can't picture how anybody could miss those gaps , so this leaves that the CP somehow missed or didn't penetrate those areas , narrowing it down.

Before i messed with anything i would go out and fish it a second time , i have fished newly built rods and remember coming home and having questions about it and realizing what i did that day really didn't put it to the test , after my second trip i realized that all was good and any doubts about it were erased .

I hope it's the latter because i can't see how anybody could miss gaps like that , those are huge gaps . I don't think it would be difficult to do those sections over.
