I have found the Rodgeeks blanks to be faster than the MHX blanks i have tried so people will have very different experiences . Even the " Moderate fast" rated rods are fast which i strongly prefer and they tend to be stiffer throughout which i also prefer. MHX has a lot more model lines so you would have to compare rods rated for the same application & have ratings that are as c

Since the blanks are really St. Croix blanks designed by Brunner and manufactured on the identical St. Croix equipment that is found at their Park Falls Wisconsin location i'm not surprised that the travel blanks are as good as they are . St. Croix blanks have always been known to have superb ferruling . The Rod Geeks Fresnillo Mexico location is literally an exact copy of St .Croix's main lo

I took Phil to mean is there any new info out there that can give a good indication of different blanks sensitivity levels BEFORE any build is considered for them like barebones against barebones tests . Of course components used, line / leader choices , coatings etc... will either greatly enhance the sensitivity of the blank or greatly decrease the blanks inherent sensitivity traits just a bl

Carol your mention that the Phenix K2's may be closest seems to be an accurate statement after reading the below comments from another forum who compares them to the NRX: My Phenix K2 Review... Rod: K2 Spinning 713ML Reel: Stella FI C2000S Line: 10# Daiwa J-Braid, 8# Seaguar Tatsu Topshot Lure: 1/4oz Shakey Head Wow, this rod is light, sensitive, and has a true fast taper

I always felt that a modern high quality graphite rod will enhance the fishing experience of most anybody who is used to fishing lower end rods . When i first experienced it i was blown away , not only was i able to cast considerably further with it i was able to fish much longer with it being lighter in weight and the sensitivity was clearly better . Sensitivity was a part of the experience

I have always used the product that was purposely designed for applying tip tops, hot melt glue . Never had a tip top loosen on me in my lifetime & i have fished in absolutely brutal conditions. Everybody has their preference , no big deal.

I flip the rod over , remove the spool of the reel i intend to use with the rod and mount the reel on the rod in an upside down position . I then run a taught line from the spool axle to the top of the choke guide first and look to see if each guide lines up perfectly center of the line . I then run a second line from the top of the choke guide to the tip top to see if each running guide is exa

The new Legend Elite doesn't feel anything like the one you broke huh , what a bummer . Seems everybody loves the CTS Affinity X models so i would bet the house thats what most will recommend but i highly doubt you will get much feedback from people that own both . Any idea the year the rod you broke was that will help . Herb at HNL Rod Blanks is great to deal with and he's a sponsor on th

I do what Roger does, keep the cup you mixed in and if it's still sticky wait it out , Threadmaster lite takes considerably longer to be tack free even in optimal conditions.

In a previous Hitena thread a few who tried the samples said it felt thicker in diameter than the thread they usually wrapped with and Hitena took the feedback and was in the process of making it thinner , don't know what ever became of it though.

Not sure Ben , i have never fished a reel in that size so i would need to do a lot of testing , i don't doubt anything you say though.

I can tell you with certainty that if you're indeed using very light braid (10 or under) and the reel is a 2500 size then a 16 mm guide at the appropriate height will perform fantastic , a 20 mm would be the absolute max i would go with . I have similar setups and tried all those guide sizes and with a 4000 size reel and light braid i actually found the 20 mm to be a bit too large . My 500

I picked up a Rodgeeks blank at the expo and asked about warranty since there was no paper work involved , they said if you have an issue you will be well taken care of no problem at all . They have also gotten back to me within hours or the next day every time .

I just attach the rod upside down with reel facing up and spool removed and attach a light string from the extended spool spindle to where i decide to put the choke guide and tie off to the top of the choke . With the line taught i just place guides that fit the height of the string to where each guide ring bottom just touches the string as i move along out toward the choke . The 27 X method t

Bull sharks off your boat huh , then that reel fits the bill lol . Not surprised in the least that 30 pound braid handles them , i have been using braid considerably lighter than that for the last 15 years while surf fishing and have had no issues . You can probably get a set of minima's for around $10.00 -12.00 instead of a KR set in the $20.00 range .

A three guide reduction train of Fuji corrosion resistant KL-H guides ( CC Silver with Fazlite rings) transforming into KT runners ( Also with Fazlite rings) would cost about $20.00 and make a 7 foot spinner with a 2500 size reel and light braid an absolute rocket launcher . I priced them out on Mudholes website . I agree with the others about over thinking this stuff , most everybody does

Ken , i think the ratings of "moderate fast" on all the X comp blanks may not be accurate since RodGeeks did put a lot of effort into making certain models much slower with a deep bend which your clients seem to be asking about so asking either RogGeeks or Billy Vivona directly about that would get you the most accurate info as to which ones might or might not fit the bill. If you're actually wanting to put together the best performing layout for a 7 foot spinner using a 2500 size reel and light braid i would do what the guys on here told me to do and i can't thank them enough because the 8 footer that i finished is the most awesome fishing and casting rod i have ever used. I followed the exceptionally simple Anglers resource KR worksheet , not only did it tell t

Boat style rods for Tarpon and Grouper huh , well as much as i despise rods that are "Slow" i think the below may suit you because RodGeeks mentions "Slow" . Yes, some of the 8’ X-Comps weigh less than their respective counterparts in the 7’3” lengths. The data on our website is correct. We spent over 18 months gathering feedback from fishermen and rodmakers to perfect
