If they haven't changed the Mojo Surf since it came out and the guides are the same than it is indeed a copy of a Fuji Lowrider and they do have Zirconium rings . I used to know the name of the manufacturer St. Croix uses but it evades me now , i know it's not Kagan( Although St. Croix does use Kagan guides on a few inshore model rods) and it's not anything by American , Fuji or SeaGuide .

Don't over think it , i have found the KR GPS to be virtually dead on with minimal if any additional tweaking , at first i said this is odd and i need to change things but i said before i do i need to go test cast to see if Fuji really knows what they're doing . I was skeptical to say the least but when i started test casting my jaw dropped and i was blown away , awesome performance. Even t

He actually owns a tackle shop , meet him there and ask him to show you a rod that appeals to him and is closest to the description to what he considers a noodle rod blank , don't forget to confirm the length and weights he intends to throw . He probably means a blank that has a medium power rating and a moderate to moderate fast action with some backbone and if thats the case every manufactu

You might have missed my edit , i added more info , the below is what popped up when i typed in "Noodle rod blank " on Mudhole's site . You can get noodle rod blanks a lot cheaper than what St. Croix is charging . First thing is to find out what weights he typically throws because inlets have strong currents . St. Croix 3S106ULS2 Spinning-Noodle Rod Blank SKU: #3S106ULS2

"He said hes looking for something that has a lot of play, good casting, but can handle something fairly big" You have to have a talk with this guy and get more info , ask him what rod he used to fish and hopefully he gives you a rod series, the manufacturer of the rod etc... because you need a more definitive answer. Ask what weights he typically throws that will help a great d

Sounds like you have built one piece rods before so if thats the case there's really not anything different except as mentioned you can add a ferrule wrap, some blank manufacturers recommend it but just as many say it's not needed . I used to wrap ferrules but haven't recently even on my CTS 12 foot surf rod , no issues whatsoever as i was assured by the CTS staff that there's absolutely no nee

Jim, i see the post where you said you were going to look into the mismatched Fuji KR guide kits from Mudhole was edited about a week later where you now say you have no control over what retailers come up with . I didn't know you edited it so my apologies. I asked about the sets many months back and Norm immediately new they were not Fuji's recommendations as shown below . Norm said

Well, when i first looked into the KR concept guides i found the sets at Mudhole and after posting about the sizes on this site i found they were incorrectly matched . I know you said you were going to look into that but i have no idea if anything came from it. If the sets were correctly matched like your example above i think that would be helpful to SOME people who are confused abou

I have found Fuji's software that tells you what guide sizes and spacing for KR rod setups to be virtually dead on . I use a KL-H 20 for the stripper with a Shimano Stradic 5000 with 10 pound braid on an 8 foot inshore rod and it's an absolute rocket launcher , if i was using a Shimano 2500 size reel with braid 15 pound or under i would definitely drop to a 16 KL-H for the stripper . Just

Leave it alone . The below is directly from the RG site : " Our standard finish is a matte clear coat that we call Natural. This provides moisture and UV protection while showing the original look of the carbon fiber." The finishes contain ultraviolet light inhibitors and flex additives, so you can be confident that these attractive and durable finishes will look good

I tried out the Immortal popping rod blanks in the heaviest version they offered and i returned it immediately because it was like what i consider an ultra light blank in feel and diameter & the action was not nearly stiff enough for my liking. I am used to the St.Croix medium & medium heavy rated blanks so when i checked out a Rod Geeks blank it was identical in feel and action to what

Herb has been fantastic with all the questions i have had , he gets back to you very quickly and is very very trustworthy , no surprises with herb , he's been a pleasure to deal with . I have talked to a few others in the past that deal with CTS blanks but i was not impressed with any of them , Herb is the person to always deal with in my experience.

One of the best things i ever did was to go to size 5 KT running guides on my 8 foot inshore rod , what an amazing difference they make , i was so impressed i scrapped the KT size 8 guides in favor of KT 6's on my heaviest surf rod . Fuji says size 4 or 4.5 is the smallest they recommend for any size rod. I love the size 5 and 5.5 's though , you won't be disappointed and i admit when viewin

Not doubting others experiences but i have yet to see grooving in any Alconite or Sic ring material ever on any fishing rod , these ceramics are so hard that you can't even scratch them with a rough cut file let alone braided lines. As said factory rods are rarely equipped with the best ceramic ring material so i have no doubt many have suffered grooving . I also agree with Tom and Lynn that

Did not mean to make it appear i was signaling you out Lynn , my apologies . Many people agree with you and do prefer Sic tops just like you do there's no question about that . I am in the minority i'm sure , as far as wear , imo i don't think wear is an issue with any of the modern ceramics i think the attributes people consider when choosing ring materials are slickness, weight and are they

Agree with Tom 100% , if your fishing includes long battles and extended runs by powerful game fish it is wise to choose a ceramic that offers the least amount of friction but i don't think you will see any detectable difference in casting performance as far as distance . Being lighter weight can add to distance but to say the ring material itself will add distance if all weigh essentially the s

The below blank is extremely popular with surf casters because it comes with two entirely different top sections , one moderate and one moderate fast . One top section is rated 2-6 oz and the other is rated 3-8 oz A unique 2-in-1 rod blank. Comes with one butt section and two different tip sections, allowing you to essentially have 2 rod rod blanks at an unbeatable value. Ther
