I put there Aero on just about every rod I build. There is nothing I have found more comfortable even the look alike don't come close. American Tackle has a new G2 carbon grip that fits right into it. If you get this with a cct Aero you will have the most sensitive dropshot rig on the planet.

I can't wait what we will be seeing in this competition. I might go traditional to try and win!

I used some for the first time last week. It was an eye opening experience. Cure time took 24 hours as you stated and applied like water. I will probably use this on all my personal fly rods. I still love my pro kote though, I can do a repair with one coat and return the rod the next morning. You cannot do this with the clearcoat. Really cool epoxy and definitely has a place in my shop for

I can't believe how awesome that thing is. I also am blown away by the hand laid carbon fiber on the reel seat.

I second the American Tackle Aero, it is just so comfortable in the hands and is an all day fish. It is also available in the new CCT for extra sensitivity.

Microwave guides keep getting better with different options, plus the new CCT carbon seats, and carbon grips from American Tackle are awesome.

If we get a strong wind out of the south on the Chesapeake bay it looks like that.

He is fishing from a 19 foot center console. I think the Mag Bass and all these great suggestions will work, now I just have to teach him the do's and don'ts. High sticking, past 45, ect.

I have an elite x shooter blank and love it, also have used it for topwater. Judging by the pictures he sends me these rockfish are tiny. I fish the same bay and most topwater fish are 15-25 inches. The bigger ones are a little lazy and wait for an easy meal. I will just let him know what his options are and you can topwater with a Mag blank, its just not as much feedback. I will also look at

I know what he has done, I might just tell him to try a longer rod or switch techniques.

I have a customer who throws larger top water lures for rockfish in the Chesapeake Bay. The only problem I am having is that he wants a blank between 6' and 6'6". I am up for any suggestions.

I really do appreciate the input on this build, I think I will probably be going with snakes as it is going to be used for fish that don't run enough. I may, or may not do the microwave guide, I just like being different. I might just do all titanium, with recoil and fuji.

They will both perform well, I would go with the NanoPlasma, because of the look. They look different, you or I might be able to tell a difference between sic and alconite, but a customer may not. As far as friction goes, I don't think it would be easy to tell the difference. They are both coated and should be bulletproof against braid.

I ordered mine at the show because they didn't have any left. I just don't know, I like the look of ceramics. Hey Ed, I purchased a CTS because my St Croix feel like a 14 and a 10 1/2 would be a great improvement. Also the gentleman who gave me the suggestion said that CTS has been the only blank he has built that was right according to ccs.

I think the microwave stripper looks cool! I like good looking stippers, stone, just doesn't do it for me. If I can make a rod like the guy a Batson with 20 guides or something on his rod, that would be cool too. I just want a different look.

Just wondering on an opinion for guides. I currently have an 8wt St. Croix that I built with Alps snake guides. Thanks to a fellow builder, they convinced me to buy a CTS for what I am doing. Should I go ceramic or snake? Titanium or Stainless?. I will probably use a microwave striper guide, and a carbon wood seat, that I am going to build. I am using an Alps reel seat for the build. Any h

I love those handle's. I probably will put stain on and the finish unless I have to replace the reel seat. I have someone who wants me to redo the whole rod. Just trying to see whats involved to judge if I am going to do it or not. I currently have two wood handle rods, that I made on my lathe, but it is easier from scratch.

Just wondering if anyone has any ways to get old wood looking good again. I tried once, but after sanding on my lathe it was still that weather worn wood color of grey.

I just uploaded it on the photo section of grips. You will see I turned it into a beer tap. If I can figure how to link it I will.

I just used a MHX shooter blank and put a 5 inch carbon handle on it. I did this because I don't like the pistol grip look. But, the MHX blank in the shooter series was made for pistol grip style fishing. The action is super fast, mine is the Elite X, they also sell it in the standard. My grip is really lite so my rod feels very tip heavy. I personally am not worried about this because I wi

Hey Billy, I will just hold down the silk thread with masking tape! I have notice on a few high end rods, st croix, g loomis, there using a non cp nylon thread. The st croix I am working on now looks clear, that is why I asked the question. I will definitely try some non cp threads and see the results.

I will make sure I take a close look at those blanks. Everything I have built on a Rodgeeks blank has been a real eye opener. I have only built on there carbon 2 line and the glass line. I couldn't believe how sensitive they were and the glass was a 7'9" heavy that was really small for its size.

You can see the guide foot in the epoxy, so it either has no thread just epoxy or clear thread
