Agree with Don, cast's like a dream. Very durable and super easy to set up. Did I mention how nice they cast!

The Alps chuck is worth its weight in gold. My next purchase will be a Renzetti, depending on money. Flex Coat has a nice one, but I have no experience with it. There selling point would be the slip chuck. Don't waste money on the upgraded AT chuck as I never could get it to hold with out tape and rubber bands.

What I think they might be doing is cutting the 12 inches or so off the butt that will be replace with an aluminum butt, then cutting the tip to there spec. This seams to me counterproductive on a composite blank.

I was wondering why you would start with a 7 foot rod and cut it down?

I pressure cast handles in a pressure pot. No bubbles at all. Coat the rod in Lumiseal or Permagloss. It is urethane based and super strong., I coat all my wood grips with this.

Looking at building a bay rod for trolling. Main target will be stripers or rockfish depending on what you call them. I plan on using aluminum butts for the handle and reel seat and eva or carbon forgrips. I have some really well know rod builders around here, but they didn't seem to incline to help(They got burned before by an employee starting a company). They start with a RCLB or SWB bat

It is the Inferno blank. Looks to be freshwater, like a dropshot rod.

So I talked to a good buddy of mine, Jigging is probably just a swimbait with a jighead, while casting. This would mean that a medium xf would be great, but if your bouncing a diamond jig at the bay bridge, I think a slower action would be fine. Any blank ideas for the above jighead swimbait, would be helpful as well. I use a light to medium light for this kind of fishing even on large 25 inch

I was talking with a bunch of locals, that insist on medium heavy, extra fast action, with 6'6" length. I can't find anything like that online except for powell makes rods for 110.00 bucks with this style blank. Now every jigging rod I ever knew of was moderate action with a longer length. Any help on educating me or my customers would be helpful!

The rod blank is an SG79HM. When I was at the rod show, I ask if they had any of the composite rods, and this is what he showed me. Probably a misunderstanding, but it still should be a good rod. I will check out the LVL's, thanks a bunch.

I'm building a jigging rod from a RodGeeks composite 7'9". I am just looking on what a good guide would be. Most of my tackle is light and this will be the first heavy rod I've built. Probably going to Jig 2-3oz spoons and an occasional live fish. This will be a cast rod with a spiral wrap. My goal would be a very large rockfish or blue in the chesapeake bay. I will probably use braid

I use a uni knot and many of my rods have 2,3,and 4 size guides. I've never heard of an fg knot until now. Just watched a video, very cool. The one problem with the uni knot is if you tighten the braid end first you will not be able to tighten the mono, or flouro end. Hope this helps

Just wondering is there a problem if I put a 10.0 tip top on a size 9.0? The ring size are the same yet the diameter is a little diffrent on the tube.

109. Re: dust
Make sure there not micro bubbles. When every I put to much epoxy on the first coat, it looks like dust. This is actually bubbles in the epoxy. Heat can take some of it away, but not all. I stopped looking for dust particles once I found this out. Now I just need the cats to stay away.

Well just ordered from getbit.com. 1 RCLB80XL and 1 RCLB80L, I'm sure after talking with my buddy, these will be perfect. Putting Alps guides all the way up.

I use guide foot adhesive, works even on the nano micros. Surgical tubing works really well also. Note, guide foot adhesive is not strong like tip top adhesive. It is low temp as stated before.

I am looking more and more into the RCLB. It is a composite and as Frank says it is durable. How are the MHX Saltwater composites?

Are the Bushido blanks durable? There all carbon, just worried about that. All of the suggestions look great. Are The RX6/glass a composite?

I need to build a couple of rods for a friend of mine. He is giving me two outboard motors in trade. He will be fishing rockfish, blues, and false albacore. Maybe a red fish every now and then. He is a bigger guy, so I'm guessing longer would be better. He also wants casting distance, probably going with Fuji K guides. As far as a blank goes, just looking for suggestions. I want a nice bla

This is just an update from a post a few weeks ago asking for suggestions on a senko rod for baitcaster. I was turned onto this rod in the previous post and do not regret purchasing it. I did an spiral wrap with micro guides, starting at 60, then 120, to 180. Did not develop any issues with this setup, first guide was 20 inches from the reel seat. I was using alps titanium guides with 8 flys

I use a harbor freight lathe and it was cheap if you can find the 30% off coupon. The grizzly is nice as well.
