13802. Re: Metal Leafing
That was very popular for custom paint jobs on cars and bikes in the 50's and 60's. Still done today. Stop in any auto paint supplier and see all the goodies they have for paints like metallic flacks. Another thing was spider webing done with welding torch
More ideas is to pick up a custom car magazine and look at some of the paint jobs done

Yes. Usually after 2-3 days you should scoff with a fine pad in order to get the next coat to stick well. There is an artical in the libary page that explans this well. Plus other articals with good content

13807. Saltwater rod builders
Hi guys
I may have a possible order for a lot of saltwater rods 80 LB's. I am looking to converse with a builder instead of asking questions and taking up space on the board. Questions like Solid glass to graphite, uni-butt or stuart tuff but. Price is the key
E mail me if you can
Thanks guys willie48sr@juno.

13808. Re: butt wrap alignment tool
With guides on the rod, the first pass I measure the distance between each thread ( after knowing the centers of each cross will be ) at 0 then at 180. I do the same on the secound pass. Then remeasure the crosses and move if necessary

13810. Re: Interesting Question
Tom the customer is not happy? Think he will ever come back for another rod?? I don't think so. I don't think it was to much to ask. This guy shows other frends and then ? I think the builder should have mad some sort of attempt to help

13811. Re: Interesting Question
Don't know where the spine was on this blank, but it sounds like it " might " have been able to be built with the bend going upward? But then again he should make it right
Right now I am building a light bass rod. Had an eglass blank I showed the customer. He would have excepted it. I did not. Spent more but got him a graphite blank that I know he will like much better
My name goes

13812. Re: Interesting Question
As a builder this should not have happened. I realize that things go though the cracks, but the blank should have been checked out !!!
I always check out all my blanks and if I do not like it I will either tell the customer, or just get them another blank!
When building a quality rod this should not happen.
The customer should get with the builder and they should be able to work it out.

Just wanted to let people that are flying to the show that there is a lot of news about trouble with the airlines . People are having flights cancelled. Lugage piled up. Probably because of Christmas.

13822. Re: Blank Refinishing
Permagloss is a little tricky to get used to. It sets up fast! Since you are going to do it yourself, maybe a varnish tinted. It should make it easier to apply since it does not set as fast as permagloss.

13825. Re: Blank Refinishing
The only thing I have had luck with is spraying with Plasti Kote auto paints. I like the matallic colors. Two " dust " coats. just enough to cover the blank. Let dry, overnight. Then two or three coats of permagloss I am playing with an auto clear.
Also check out the library page for articals on this, and a search of this board. A lot of info
Also like Bob said above - 20.00 bucks

I would think a more of a bend, looks light?? You can go as much as 11 guides. Looks like single foot wire that are on there. First from tip I go 4" to start.
