You can put another coat any time you want. Just have to scoff in order to get it to bond other wise it just lays on top and will probably peal

13866. Re: St Croix Blanks
Good point. I find that some customers know st croix but like a moderate action rod. This change will cause more people to go to say Rainshadow. That will make Bill happy LOL

13875. Re: Epoxy
If you are talking about Classic Rod Coat. I have used it and found it did take about 5-6 hours to set up? Way to long for me. It is nice! Clear, and levels very good.

I use Glass Coat. I thin it with lacquer thinner. No bubbles. Good set time. When I use a hair drier, it is on low, and the area where the rod is gets a spray of water from and old spray bottle to make sure there is no dust. It should be clean in the first place. One coat on each guide. Wate. Then another while turning slow. I also level the rod with a small level

13881. Re: cork grip bore to big
The thread will be used as a shim to center the tip section of the handle. But use the rod bond to glue it onto the blank

13883. Re: Reel Seats--coloring
I also like the Plasti Kote colors because of the nice metallic in the auto colors. They glow in the sunlight.
Got a metallic black. I just striped a 7' 2 Piece UL I made and am going to coat it with. Should look real nice

13884. Re: Reel Seats--coloring
You could thin out epoxy and coat but the permagloss is a lot harder and will stand up better. And is thin

13885. Re: Reel Seats--coloring
I paint them all the time. They stand up well. I scoff with a fine pad, wipe the dust off then spray ( just to cover ) one or two dust coats of Plasti Kote car color on. Let dry, then coat with permagloss. I also mask off the crome or whatever and paint the nut so it will match the seat. I sand the threads so the nut does not fit real tight when painted and cleared Hope this helps

13888. Re: Blemish in reel seat
Two ways come to mind
Sand with 600 wet dry paper till the chip is smooth. Then coat with permagloss.
You could also try to put a drop or two in the chip of permagloss. Fill the chip.Let dry overnight. Sand with 600 and coat all of it with permagloss
