Then do as Mark suggested and measure the rod via the Common Cents Sytem. If you measure it’s intrinsic power (IP) and action angle (AA), and post those numbers here, someone may be able to recommend a blank based on those numbers. There are a number of people on this site that do CCS numbers on the blanks they build. Otherwise we are all just guessing. Norm

Make your own winding check. Can use a piece of a polyurethane foam shim of an appropriate diameter; it can be easily shaped, coated with a tinted structural epoxy and wrapped to match your guide wraps. Norm

If you fish you will know if it is casting well, three important things are: quiet, smooth and long. I have made well over a hundred KR spinning rods, and have tested just about every possible combination of KR reduction guidees and their placement. Tweaking the stripper and/or choke guides in or out a few centimeters makes very little if any difference in performance. I think your layout will

I think they are Kigan double ft tangle free Z guides. May have a tough time finding them. Might be able to get Hydra fishing to special order them for you. Maybe St Croix will sell some to you. They look very similar to the Fuji LC guides (low riders), which may be a suitable substitute. Norm

You are fine. I also do not like the non-progressive spacing that the KR GPS sometimes gives for the reduction train. The stripper at 19” is good and moving the choke out a little is fine to get the spacing that looks good to you. You could also leave the choke point where recommended and just progressively space the other two reduction guides between the stripper and choke, which ever works for

I always use at least one KB with as many as three, with all the KB/KT running guides the same size. For ‘micro guide’ builds (size 5.5 to 4 runners), and braid up to 30#, three reduction guide sets ( (1) KL16H, KL8H, KL5.5M, (2) KL20H, KL10H, KL5.5 and (3) KL25H, KL12H, KL5.5M (or KL6M)) would cover almost all freshwater rods and most inshore rods, you would just need to pick the KB/KT runner si

It is hard to go wrong with an MHX blank they are an outstanding value and make into a very nice rod that you can be proud of. Their lifetime warranty is excellent with no hassles, just make sure to register the blank with MHX. Norm

Try a light power spin jig blank. These blanks have a very fast action with good power in the butt section. The fast tip makes them very good for working top water lures and working jigs. A lot of brands available, depends on what you want to spend. You do not have to spend a lot of money to get an excellent blank. Norm

Sounds like you want a light to medium light rod with a fast or moderate fast action. Hard to find two piece rods but the 6’8” Revelation blanks suggested by Roger is a good choice. Try using a light braid it has no stretch, and thus will increase sensitivity and help with hooksets. In my opinion, light mono is like using a rubber band. Norm

I am assuming you are talking about a spinning rod because the only Fenwick 6’9” Rods I found were spin rods. Fenwick lists the elite tech 6’9” bass Spin rod as having a medium power, with a moderate fast action. They also have an elite tech 6’9” walleye Spin rod listed as having medium light power and extra fast action. They also have two elite tech 6’9” river runner spin rods one listed as ultr

Size B is another choice for thread size looks good and is easier to wrap than A , but not as easy as D. Guide size is measured by the OD of the ring not the ID, and it is in mm. Norm

The KR concept is a braid / microguide refinement of the the NGC which employs tangle free (K) guides. The concept involves high frame small ring KL-H guides to better control and rapidly choke the line down to small ringed low profile running guides,KB (belly) and KT (tip) guides. The smaller size of these guides makes them lighter than the NGC guides and thus the overall weight of the rod is r

They are brand new so I suspect very few people have had hands on experience with both. So basically all you have to go on is the specs given by NFC and they clearly indicate that the SJ is more powerful. In my experience when comparing MB vs SJ blanks with the same power number in the model designation, both are similar in power with the SJ having a faster action. I personally prefer the faster

Heck, buy both of them. If you buy both you get 65% off and free shipping with the sale that is currently going on. Both would cost $175 buying one would cost $125. Sounds like a good deal to me. Norm

Just looking at the spec given, it appears that that the SJ736 is more powerful than the MB736. SJ736 power - H; line wgt - 10-17 lb; lure wgt - 1/4 - 1 oz; butt - .57” MB739 power - MH; line wgt - 8-16 lb; lure wgt - 1/4 -3/4 oz; butt - .49” Norm

It is very difficult to get professional team logos on decals because of trademark riights and the legal restrictions in using them. It is technically illegal to use a logo without the permission of the trademark owner. Most companies that make decals are unwilling to go through the hassles and cost of getting permission. Norm

If guide kits are needed, then, for most freshwater bass, walleye and trout spinning rods of almost any length, power, and action you can’t go wrong designing KR guide kits around two different reduction guide groups. For small reels and/or light line use the KL16H, KL8H, and KL5.5M group with runners of your choice up to size KB/KT5.5. For medium reels and/or heavier line the KL20H, KL10H, and K

Nickel titanium (nitinol) is an 1:1 alloy of nickel and titanium and has the unique properties of shape memory and super elasticity, only REC guides use this material. Almost all high end titanium guides are greater than 90% pure titanium, with the other alloy components used to increased strength and hardness. So when guide manufacturers use the term 'solid titanium' they are referring to an all

Tom is correct, need to match to reel and line used. Most of the spin rods I build are for freshwater (ultralight and bass), and light inshore fishing (speckled trout, redfish, etc). Reel sizes vary from 1000 to 3000 with 5 to 30# braid. For these rods I mostly use just two KR guide groupings for my reduction trains, KL16H, KL8H, and KL5.5M for UL, L and ML rods with light braid, and KL20H, KL10

What size reel are you using? Having a NGC choke pt at about 45” from spool tip suggests a spool diameter of 1.67” which is about the size of a 2000 reel. My Shimano 2500 has a spool diameter of 1.83”. If you are using a larger reel that may be a part of your problem, your choke pt needs to be moved further out. Placing the stripper at 17” from the spool tip is much too close even for a size 1000

With the very light braid and 2500 reel you are planning on using, the size 16 KLH stripper is just fine. I personally prefer size 5 or 4.5 KB/KT (mostly 4.5) runners, but size 5.5 runners will also work well. For a 6’6” to 7’ rod I mostly use 9 total guides, 3 reduction guides and 6 KB/KT runners. You can get by with 8 total guides, but the 7 recommended by the KR GPS, in my opinion, are just to

The slim beauty is a good knot but it is bulkier and not as strong as the FG knot. There have been a number of tests comparing various knots with each other and the FG knot comes out on top in all of the tests I’ve seen. The testing site Jim gave demonstrates clearly that the FG is stronger than the slim beauty. Once you tie the FG knot a few times it’s not that difficult and can be tied quickly

Of course line size and type, as well as the inline knots used, play a role in guide selection. In my opinion microguides really shine when using braid, and I always use the FG knot when attaching a leader. If using big bulky leader knots it might be better to use larger guides, or learn how to tie the FG knot. Norm

On most of my rods I use size 4.5 KB/KT guides, I have some with size 4 and others with size 5 runners. They all work great, it is your choice. When the micro guides were first becoming popular, running guide were as small as size 2 and 3. I tried just about every size and settled on 4.5 and 5 for most of my rods, personal preference. For some people micro guides are not their thing and a size 6

I agree with Lynn, 5 mm guides are just fine and will work well. Fuji KR setups give you a lot of options to fit your individual needs, which include reel size, line type and size, knots used, and your fishing style. Set it up and test cast it, I think you will be very happy with the performance. Norm

Did not have the same experience as Thomas. The NFC grips did vary a little in length, but otherwise they were just fine and looked almost exactly like the CFX grips. Basically the only difference was that the NFC foam core was a little lighter in color. I PG coated them, the holes were centered, and they reamed just fine. I ordered four blanks and four grips on 10 July and got them within 4 or 5
