Anthony I completely agree with you. I looked at a rod that was in production a while back,my friend sold it to me,and the guides on it made me laugh. I remedied that problem with ease, and am a bit amazed by how the label and wraps look. Now I can fish with this rod knowing it's the very best work I could have done. Thjank you again, and to the fellow who emailed me with encouraging words, you know

I put another coat of finish, this time threadmaster lite, and it appears to have done the trick! I will update in

It's been over a day now. I could just mix 1 cc of threadmaster lite and take a toothpick and dab a tiny bit of it in the hole,

Well thing is ,it's not very big,it popped,it's more like a small holiday in the material if that makes sense. I'm gonna let it be,it's hardly noticeable. If it was on the reel side of the rod it would be a different story but it's

Upon further inspection the thing is so small I guess I will just live with it. The wraps have metallic trim bands. I think I may have overheated the epoxy a bit in the dish. Thanks for the feedback! I'm a perfectionist and I tend to beat myself up over things that really are just fine. I was thinking I would add a coat of threadmaster light but I would rather not risk it.

Hi all. Love this site and all the information I have gleaned from you guys is invaluable. I had an issue come up today. I put a decal on the butt of my rod framed by 2 thread wraps, and epoxied the rod. The first coat looked awesome but there was an area on the front thread wrap that had a little divit in it,like the epoxy wasn't as thick as it needed to be. I applied a second coat of finish and

That's what I thought, that it was similar to Alconite. I am planning a guide train for a NFC steelhead rod casting build and want the very best. It's looking like Torzite fujis!

Hello all. I was striper fishing this morning in the surf with my light spinning rod and on a cast heard a loud pop noise as my tip section went flying into the surf with my plug. I checked and there was a split, about a half inch, like a hairline crack, right smack dab in the middle of the male ferrule. It runs down the blank roughly half an inch or so. I was able to join the rod and finish o

I just wanted to give a shameless plug to Eric at Rougarou Rods for his patience and expertise in helping me with rod handle componenets for the steelhead rod I'm building, taking the time to answer my questions and emails, sending me pictures, and providing me with the feedback I needed to make an educated choice on what I wanted. The shipping was fast ,easy and everything was packaged up nic

I installed winn MHX grips from mudhole, split grip style,on a Bushido blank that I use for bass and smaller striped bass cranking. I love them. Everyone who saw the rod said they lliked them a lot.I will be using them on future builds . I fully endorse them and the durability and comfort are awesome, easy to install.and many color and configuration options out there. Robert

Hello all. I am building on a NFC St 964-2. I will be using a carbon tube rear grip and was thinking of installing a bird cage hood in lieu of a foregrip. I have tried searches and couldn't come up with much. Anyone use these before? Thoughts? Installation tricks I should know about? This is my first attempt at an MVT Toray seat and I want to get it right. Thanks. Robert ford

I know how they make them but unfortunately they are not for sale and I can't make a handle like that . I may have to settle for something else.

I guess my question is where can I find a tutorial on making foregrips like these,if at all possible,or where can I buy such a grip?

Hello all. So I am about to build on a NFC ST 964-2 ,casting, and I was looking into the sanded filament wound carbon tubes from Rock West Composites, and I have a general idea of how I want the rear butt to be,with an Alps MVT seat, but the foregrip has me puzzled. I know I could just use a 2.5 inch section of the tube and trim the ends out with eva or some sort of material but I really want

I really like threadmaster and threadmaster lite depending on what I'm trying to accomplish. I am relatively new to building so take it with a grain of salt but I have had zero issues.

I use a pac bay power wrapper with the upgraded alps chuck and love it. I am sure the alps wrapper is top shelf. I also just use a large bobbin to wrap with. I did not care for the thread tensioner device that I got with the thread carriage. It's a work in progress as the more I build the more I figure out what works for me. IMO you really can't go wrong and as your skill improves wrapping g

The Daiwa tatula ct type r will perform for bass, and the price is reasonable at around 120. I wouldn't like;y use it in the salt however. The coastal can be had for a 150 or so. That would be my bet. They cast a country mile, last ,and have good drags.

Well I believe I am going to build on a Rainshadow Eternity2 ETEF908-4. I love the color! I am thinking Rec titanium double foot snakes,a blue alps triangle reel seat, fuji or alps titanium stripper guides, and I haven't figured out the grips. Thanks again for the help and Herb I emailed you to no avail. I do plan on building on a CTS one of these days so you'll hear from me.
