Thanks all. These are the unfinished CFX grips I wish to coat, will probably use the Riley method.

Thanks Spencer - appreciated, will do some sanding. (I should have thought of this before gluing the grips on the blank!)

Top-coating some CFX carbon fiber grips with either Lumiseal or Permagloss, is there any need to sand these down any further before applying? Many Thanks!

Building a 9wt fly rod with black nickel components, just wondered if a flush, black nickel butt cap might be available anywhere. I used a short, carbon fiber grip (Mudhole) for the fighting butt. Thanks very much - appreciated!

Thanks so much fellas, I really appreciate the suggestions! I have purchased some of Mike's (Riley Rods) materials to create these, just need to find some time to go at it. Thanks too Dick, I didn't realize my email was hidden - I'll change that and really appreciate any and all helpful directions!!!

Thanks very much Ron and Spencer, appreciated - I'll look at those RX6 SP's Ron. I really like the 7' length myself, fun blank, this is for a stream fisherman though who is looking for one a bit shorter.

Looking for a blank having a similar action as an IP840, but in the 5'6 - 6' range. I guess I could cut a foot off the butt (a lot of waste), but wondered if something fairly similar may already exist. Building up a UL spinning rod for trout. Many thanks, Mike

Thanks fellas, appreciated - I'll experiment a bit with backgrounds. (I may just end up using a decorative wrap, not really big on stickers!)

Building a Boston Red Sox-themed freshwater trout spinning rod for a friend and wondered if anyone could point me in the direction of some decent quality, small logo stickers. Many thanks!

Thanks Tom and Donald, appreciated. I'll probably add one more light coat and be done, thought of going the spar route but too late now...next time, live and learn.

...applied two light coats of ProKote finish to the wraps on a bamboo fly rod project. The blank was pre-varnished, so all I really need to do is finish the guide wraps. I'm wondering if further light coats of ProKote will eventually be a losing battle when trying to avoid round-looking, finished wraps - I'm hoping for a finish that somewhat follows the contours of the flats and edges of the he

Thanks Spencer, appreciated, just called Angler's but struck out. Sounds like it's been awhile since these were d'cd. Thinking of trying an Immortal MH 7'2 model if all else fails.

Finally built on this now-discontinued blank and really enjoy jigging lake trout with it. Any possibility of finding a couple more (I know, probably a needle in a haystack) or anyone experience a currently available blank that is similar? Many thanks, Mike

Wrapping a UNC-themed rod soon and oh how my eyes have grown old! -- is either Fishhawk's #37 Sky blue ncp, or even their #54 Lt. blue ncp close to the UNC Carolina blue color? (Probably will wrap with ncp d/t the light shade.) Other choice might be PacBay's light blue ncp but I don't have a spool in hand & my Gudebrod #37 supply is now extinct. Many, many thanks! Mike

Thanks very much for your help! I was hoping the p843 would work out as the 844 specs seem a bit heavy when speckled trout are the norm. Thanks for the guide train idea too Bill, he's using braid with a short leader on a 3000 size spinning reel. I'm not familiar with saltwater guides, looking at the Ti Microwave set, but will check out the Fuji guides also. Thanks again!

Posted below about building a friend an inshore 2pc. spinning rod for mostly speckled trout, but possibly an occasional redfish. Currently looking at the 7', MHX-P843 or P844 blanks. He uses Super Spook Jrs., 3 1/2 in, 1/2 oz for topwater. would the P844 (rated 1/4 to 5/8oz.) be a better fit in this case? (Thanks, I live "in the sticks" and wish I could handle some of these blanks in
