I used to enjoy watching Shaw before he turned into a walking billboard. I understand sponsorship, but really! Sorry off topic.

Not sure which I like better, the rod or the photos! Both are excellent. Lynn

Donald, I think your procedure would work if you turned it 180 every minute, wicking off excess with the brush 3 or 4 times, for a 1/2 hour. Then put it on the dryer. It works, excess epoxy or not.

For flyrod issue I would consider coating the seat threads with some sort of thread locker before proceeding.

Just ordered one of these. Backstop nut, Fuji LOGR- (size) AN. This is is just the nut, (no hood) for use with an existing reel seat. Get Bit Outdoors.

Just called Get-Bit, a real guy answered the phone and spent 15 min. with me to track down a $2.50 part. Total price shipped to me: $6.45. Gotta love it!

Rainshadow SW 967F 3/4 to 4 oz. I got one ordered for much the same purpose, among other things. This is not as fast as Michael recommends but I think it will work well with flouro - braid. Lynn

Those of you who are new here for whatever reason should take advantage of the search feature. Make sure you set it for all dates before searching and many times you'll find your answer before you have to post a question. There's nothing wrong with asking questions, but the info may be instantly available. Lynn

Robert, You might want to contact the manufacturer of your particular epoxy and ask if they recommend thinning or not, and if so, what to use as thinner and in what quantity. Lynn

I believe Flex-Coat reverse pilot bits work for this. Also, watch the Flex-Coat videos available. They are very helpful. Lynn

Adam read my post 7 down from this one: RX-7, guide sizes discussed there. My son has a Wild Black Carrot Stix Cwz 701XhF casting. 7 ft. 1/2 -21/2 oz. lure, 12-30lb. line. Stripper is double foot & 8 single foot runners. And guess what... all micros. Welcome to the land of confusion! Lynn

Sorry Adam, I got stuck on the mention of 7ft. 10in. in your 2nd post. I'm not suggesting you cut a foot off an 8 ft. blank. That said, rated for 1oz sounds a little light to me. Lynn

Adam, one of the Batson guys uses a Rainshadow SW967f for swimbaits and flippin. this a 2pc. blank rated for 3/4 to 4oz., .635 butt/7 tip. This is what I'm going to use. The SW967 is one piece and rated the same with a .680 butt/7.5 tip. The 1pc. weighs more. These blanks are 8ft., But they might cut it for you, keeping the warranty intact. Not sure about that though. For me if it's 7-10 it mig

Thank you Adam, I'm doing much the same thing. Can't stand the thought of double foots to the tip for runners. Lynn

Chad, Citri-strip works well for softening old finish without harming the blank. Not sure if you're trying to save the paint though. It'll probably need new paint anyway if it's to be white again. Lynn

Adam, after you decide on a blank please post what guide train you intend to use. I'm about to build much the same rod and am undecided on the guides. Thanks, Lynn

Tom, my intent was to use double foot for the 1st four from the reel and then go with single foot to the tip. If you think they should all be double foot, then so be it. A rod this heavy is out of my normal realm. Thanks, Lynn

I'm building a 2pc. swimbait-flippin-umbrella rig and God knows what else casting rod and would like to use this guide train: from the reel: Minima 3 double foot- 12-08-06-06, then Minima 4 single foot fly guides in size 05 out to the tip. This rod will probably use a max of 20lb. mono - flouro, anything heavier will likely be braid. Does this sound like a workable guide train? (stout enough)

Glenn, not to go off topic, but how's that telescopic flippin' stick coming along?
